A bit of history: ,
The lineage of the German Shepherd goes back to Germany at the end of the 19th century. Captain Max von Stephanitz developed this breed for he wanted a perfect working dog. Traditional herding dogs were his source of inspiration in trying to come up with an all-purpose dog that is intelligent and possess a strong herding instinct. In the year 1899, he acquired a dog called Horand von Grafrath, which eventually became the first sire of the breed. Consequently, he gave birth to this line by selecting Horand and other animals with similar desirable physical features - thus creating an intelligent type of dog that has loyalty and can perform numerous tasks such as herding as well as acting as police or military dogs. Over the years, it became famous and highly regarded in every nation due its all-round abilities and capacity to serve.
