Having a new puppy is overwhelming enough without all the conflicting advice surrounding socialization and vaccination schedules. Puppies have a very narrow window of time where their curiosity outweighs their caution. It is important to carefully expose your puppy to all the weird things this world has to offer! Think about things like city noises, other dogs, or strangers coming into the home.

Between 8 and 16 weeks, socialization should be your top priority. Your puppy can learn how to sit, stay, and come when called at any age, but they only have this small period of time to work on preventing fear and promoting confidence. If you’re planning on bringing home a new puppy over the holiday season, reach out now to snag a spot of our waitlist for private puppy training 🐶

Your dog isn’t a bad dog. Most “bad” behavior is simply natural dog behavior, but it’s occurring in a human world governed by human expectations. Sometimes, these behaviors don’t make much sense to us as humans, and sometimes these behaviors are downright rude or unpleasant. But your dog isn’t bad, and their behavior isn’t wrong! There might just be other behaviors that we find more polite in certain circumstances.

Luckily, there are plenty of ways we can help dogs learn skills and make choices that are a bit more appropriate for certain circumstances. Book a free call on our website to learn about how we can support you!

It isn’t always obvious to us when our dogs are asking for space. Many dogs request space in subtle ways before escalating to more intense warnings. Look at your dog’s whole body the next time you go to pet them. Are there any small ways you see them ask for space?

“OMG YOU’RE HOME!! I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!! LET ME TELL YOU WITH MY WHOLE BODY!!” – your dog, probably.

Jumping up isn’t your dog trying to be “dominant” — it’s usually excitement, a bid for attention, or just the fastest way to reach your face. The problem? Those muddy paws don’t exactly scream “welcome home.”

Here’s how you can help:
✅Teach an alternate behavior (like sitting) that earns attention.
✅ Prevent them from jumping with leashes or gates
✅Be consistent about how your dog can receive affection and food - from everyone.

Here’s what to avoid:
❎Grabbing their paws or kneeing them when they jump
❎Ignoring them until they calm down
❎Harsh corrections (they just want to love you!)

Your pup isn’t being bad. They just need a little guidance on how to say “hi” politely.

I know how you feel because I've lived it.

When June started showing signs of reactivity, all of our dreams and my expectations for our life together went out the window.

But I gained so much more.

With patience, consistent training and by preventing her from practicing the behavior I wanted to change, we slowly but surely made progress.

Today, June is not a patio buddy or a "go everywhere" dog, and that's okay. Because we've found what works for both of us and how to enjoy life in a way that makes everyone happy.

So if you're mourning the life you thought you would have with your dog, give yourself space to do so. And when you're done? Dust yourself off, give us a call and let's work toward a relationship that benefits you both.

If you've only ever walked your dog on a 4-6 ft leash, a long-line might be an entirely new concept to you. A 20–30 ft leash gives your dog space to explore, sniff, and move naturally — without losing the security of being connected to you.

Long lines can:
- Reduce frustration on walks.
- Boost your dog’s confidence.
- Help them feel safer around triggers.
- Help meet physical + mental exercise needs.
..and more!

But before you clip one on in a busy park, it’s important to learn when and how to use them safely. A little skill with handling makes all the difference in keeping walks stress-free for both of you.

Contact us to learn how to get started with long-line training and give your dog the freedom they’ve been waiting for.
