Recently, I was working with a dog owner who had felt shamed for advocating for her dog, helping her dog feel safe in a situation that was not set up for success.
💞 It hurt me to hear how small she felt in that moment. It took a while for her to feel comfortable again.
I used to make myself small for others, hide my eccentricities to fit into whatever industry or social setting I was in.
🪄 I'm a professional dog trainer... there's fancy papers to prove it. But I haven't worked in what is considered "traditional obedience." (well, I tried once, but that's a story for another day)
I see each dog, each person, and each relationship as unique. You get to determine what your dog's "rules" are... as long as everyone stays safe.
🧙🏻 You won't find me pressuring you to have any specific goals, but I may ask you why you want certain things. By centering the "why," we can get you the result you want faster.
Just don't tell me that you want "them to stop" doing something. Your subconscious and their brains don't work that way.
