Meet Chia – Your Future Sunbathing, Toy-Loving, Cuddle Bug!

Chia is a 1-year-old, 50 lb bundle of energy, charm, and fun! This Australian Cattle Dog mix is a gorgeous girl with a big heart and a big personality. She LOVES sunbathing, watching the world go by from her favorite window seat, and keeping an eye on the squirrels and deer in her yard (she just might just sass them a bit and give chase, but it's all part of her fun-loving nature!)

Chia is as smart as they come. She’s a toy and puzzle enthusiast, loves bully sticks, and has a passion for food (she's definitely a foodie!). Her high energy and eagerness to learn make her a perfect candidate for agility training, and she's already mastered some basic commands like "sit" and "lay down." She’s working on staying calm when excited and keeping all four paws on the ground, but with her enthusiasm and smarts, she'll thrive with more training!

Chia is house-trained and loves her crate (she even naps in it with the door open!) or cozying up on her window seat. While she can be a little shy and reactive around new people, with time and patience, Chia will warm up and become the affectionate, cuddle-loving dog of your dreams. Belly rubs? Yes, please! Once she’s comfortable, she’s all about snuggling and giving out her goofy love.

Chia gets along wonderfully with small dogs (she lives with two under 25 lbs!) once properly introduced. She’s not a fan of cats though, as she’s a herder and chaser at heart. She’s still learning to trust people and will do best in a calm, quiet home where she can take things at her own pace. She’ll need a securely fenced yard, as she loves being outdoors (though she may need a little tethering while outside, as she has an adventurous spirit and once jumped a 4-ft fence!).

Chia is currently on anxiety medication, and she’s doing great with it. A quiet, stable environment is key to her feeling secure and at ease. Because of her size and energetic nature, Chia would do best with older kids or no children, as she might unintentionally knock over younger ones when she's excited.

Maui Male 3 years old Feb or March boxer Rottweiler mix

Playful energetic and sweet. Loves to snuggle and destroy toys. Best as an only dog. Wants to be friends with cats but is to hyper. Good with kids but likes to jump. Has separation anxiety. Daily anxiety medication given. Crate trained and house trained.

‼️Macklemore is L👀king for a Foster‼️

Macklemore is in a local shelter and we need to break him FREE!!!

He is a big 103lb fellow who would benefit from a savvy owner. We feel he’d benefit from a rescue network to find the perfect fit for him as an open adoption platform may not set him up for the best success. We’ve estimated him to be around 4 years old (could be younger—his teeth look pretty good). He has been neutered and is otherwise ready for transport.

He came in as a stray so not much is known about him. He has been a very social boy while in care. We do feel he could do ok with another dog if given proper introduction. He did not show any reactivity or otherwise concerning behaviors during his dog assessment. He seemed to pay more attention to the environment and handler. He’s allowed handling from the finder he came in from, our Animal Law Enforcement team, our intake examiners, and our veterinary team. He did show some body handling sensitivities during our formal evaluation process. Overall, he seems like he could be manageable if people do not try to get him to a point of becoming too over-aroused. He applies nearly zero pressure when he becomes mouthy, but we wouldn’t want anyone to encourage him to get to that point if possible. He does show ability to settle quickly. I included some more notes of my observations with him in the records attached

Quanah & Neera Need a Home! Getting urgent! Two senior dogs, Quanah and Neera, are in urgent need of a loving foster or adoptive home after their surgeries. Neera, a social butterfly, is sweet and great with other dogs. She deserves to live in comfort as she continues managing Cushing’s. Due to living on hard surfaces for long periods, she now has an abscess and open wound, which will be treated during her upcoming tail amputation surgery. Quanah is a chill, loyal companion. He has shown a bit of protectiveness over Neera, but that may be due to the new environment, Neera not feeling well, or the fact that he is not yet neutered—time will tell. Their temporary foster cannot keep them past recovery due to moving in two months, so we must find them a home soon! Can You Foster or Adopt? Our Story

Paws N Hooves is our newer name. We are an all volunteer animal rescue and sanctuary program with a network of foster homes and given space on private farms in Colorado, Florida, Texas and other areas.

The Florida directors are still caring for 16 of the Black Forest Sanctuary animals.
