Meet Edgar Allen!

Breed: Poodle

Age: 3 years old

Why did he come to WISE? Edgar was rescued from a horrible puppy mill situation where he was used for breeding most of his life. When he was determined "unfit" to be used in their 'breeding program', they were going to euthanize him. WISE wasn't going to let that happen and saved this sweet boy!

Home Recommendation: Any home would be so lucky to have Edgar as an edition. Edgar will thrive in a home that is patient and kind as he learns how to be a dog after his rough start at life.

Personality: Eddie is such a sweet boy who is so happy to finally get the love he's been missing for so long. He will be your shadow, following you around the house, wanting to be picked up and held. Eddie is a cuddle bug who will fall asleep in your arms if you rub his belly. He has moments of playfulness, but he's still figuring out how to be a dog. He is food motivated and gets so excited when he sees and smells something you have. Eddie is learning to like going on walks. He took to the leash really quickly and is very curious to explore! He loves to snuggle and fall asleep in your arms. He is the perfect buddy to bring everywhere with you!

Kids: 16+

Dogs: Edgar has doggy friends that he enjoys hanging out with. However in his own castle, he would prefer to be the only pup!

Cats: Unknown

Crate Trained: Yes! Edgar's crate is his safe place.

House Trained: Working on it!

Leash manners: Pulls at first, then eventually settles down and walks nicely

Training: Having lived his whole life in a puppy mill, there are many things Edgar is discovering but with time and patience he will get there! He is learning to have fun and enjoy things that make him happy! Edger gets protective of his special items, particularly bones, toys, and treats which is otherwise known as resource guarding. This likely started because he had to fend for himself in the mill. With structure and proper training, this can be corrected.
