We know it's cold out, and it can be difficult to see cats outside alone. But most the time the reality is that they're fine and being cared for! Shelters in WA are full, and we're asking for a few steps to be taken before assuming a cat outside needs to be brought in. If the cat is healthy, fat and not injured it's best to leave it where it is. It most likely has a warm spot if needed and a food source. Of course, injured or thin cats probably need intervention.

Same for kittens, the safest place for them to be is with their momma and removing young kittens from their environment is not usually in their best interest unless it's clear they are in danger. Momma cat is usually nearby if the kittens are dry and have full bellies! Their best chance of survival at such a young age is with their mom, and often mom will hide if you're snooping around so try to watch from afar.
