Cheeky Chester the 6 month old Pug hurtled into the shop like a bundle of madness. His big ‘brother’ Shelby the Shar Pei, on the other hand, was so chilled while waiting patiently until Chester found the right size for his new posh leather collar and lead. Shelby was already kitted out in his smart harness.

Those little wrinkles and crinkles play havoc with the size guides!

There is nothing much else to say about Kenzo, the 14 week old Samoyed puppy, except… oh… my… goodness! What an absolutely adorable little teddy bear 😍

She only lives round the corner so watch this space; I’m sure you’ll see her flooffy face very soon and quite a lot bigger!

What do you get when you cross a 14 week old Border Collie, a 2 year old Caucasian Shepherd and an 11 month old Maltipoo? FUN!!

Little puppy Brock couldn’t believe his eyes when he encountered the biggest doggie he’d ever seen, aptly named Hercules. He bravely trotted over, gave him a good sniff before diverting his attention to Mabel who was ready and waiting for a game of chase.

What a wonderful tapestry of shapes and sizes we get to see every day 🥰

“Oh hello, I’m Willow the Wirehaired Vizsla. I’m 14 weeks old and I LOVE chewing. Have you got something super tough that I can sink my gnashers into, that isn’t my own bed, my dads shoes or kindling from the fireplace?”

“Yes, yes we do. How about this solid, sturdy anchor made from suede and jute, has a tuggy rope and a Falmouth seaside theme?”

“Oooh that looks like something I could get my teeth stuck into!”

“Brrrrrr. Don’t let that sunshine fool you, it’s suddenly super chilly out there on the beach.

So mum and dad made a quick pitstop on our walk and bought something pretty yet practical to keep me toasty while I’m running around with my buddies. I think I look pretty cool; what d’ya think?”

Pretty in pink, Pickle & Fudge the 4 month old pups who are affectionately known as ‘Jackshunds’… that’s a Jack Russell crossed with a Dachshund to you and me 😃

These little sisters used to look so alike that they always had to wear different colours so they didn’t get mixed up; but now, it’s all about the ears. Although they have still have their own unique style, even in their new Ruffwear Hi & Light harnesses.

“Thank goodness I came in yesterday, when the sky was blue and the sun was shining, to buy this lovely waterproof coat; ‘cos today it’s raining cats and dogs! But I care not… I’m dry, I’m toasty and ready to splash in the puddles around town. Oh and get my paws on the more tasty treats and cool toys today.”

11yr old Milo has sooo much flooof that even though he’s well insulated, he gets very soggy and picks up all kinds of debris on his undercarriage.

It was a bit of a challenge finding a nice lightweight coat that fitted around his thick, fluffy girth and had ample coverage underneath to keep him clean and dry but we cracked it. His mum left safe in the knowledge that the next end-of-walk clean up would be a breeze.

“I just arrived in the UK after being rescued from the streets in Romania and guess what… I’ve found the best home I could possibly wish for! My new mum and dad are so cool and they brought me to Falmouth on my first shopping trip!

You can’t see it but underneath my brand new cosy coat I’ve got a shiny new harness, a matching lead, some treats and mum got herself a swanky new dog carrier, so she can whisk me up when she needs to.

My new name is Betty and I think from now on, life is gonna be just peachy!”

4 year old twins Maeve & Margot popped in with their beautiful basset hound Dotty, who was finding it really tricky to find a coat to fit her unique body shape.

We looked at all of our styles, picked one that we know fits well for dogs who have longer bodies and guess what… the first one we tried fitted first time 🙌🏻

We have lots of coats in all shapes and sizes, so feel free to swing by anytime for a fitting. It’s all included in the service, as are the yummy treats on the counter!

Superstar Southpaw Assistant Florence was on the other side of the counter today with her family dog May, who has come to stay for her holiday. Florence already stocked up with bundles of treats and toys, but wanted a super snuggly bed for the next few weeks and some extra treats… you can never, ever have enough treats! What a spectacularly spooky turnout for the charity Halloween Costume Parade at Castle Beach yesterday, which we were asked to judge with @castlebeachfalmouth Despite the rain and the winds, so many terrifying terriers and hair-raising hounds turned out to raise money for charity @pawprints2freedom Despite ducking in and out of the rain, we managed to see all of the pups in all their glory before crowing 3rd Prize to Saffy (aka Harry Potter), 2nd prize went to Lily (aka The Bat with the Homemade Light-Up Wings) and 1st prize went to Pippin who was rodeo-ing around the beach with a cowboy on his back. Thank you all so much for making such and effort, looking splendid, braving the rain and raising money for a great charity 🐾

OK, so it’s only Monday but we think we’ve already had the most fun we’re gonna have all week! We needed a little lie-down after Freddie stormed the joint with his mum and dad, as well as his adorable fluff-sisters Georgie & Zuri. He was non-stop madness and took a particular liking to our stuffed shop Dalmation Frank who was wearing one of our float coats. Zuri & Georgie were impeccably behaved (Georgie started singing to us at one pint) and they let Freddie leap and roll all over them. They are clearly all the best of friends. After 45 minutes of crazy, the girls left with collars and a harness, Freddie left with a Southpaw sticker and mum and dad left with the desire for a stiff drink!
