What is it with grandma’s and bringing their grandchildren the most terrible gifts? Came through this morning to find 4 cotton buds in the babies pen!

Oh well, at least she’s making an effort 🤦‍♀️ That’ll teach me to remember and shut the bathroom door.

Sorry for the lack of updates- but I’ve been very poorly over the past week so haven’t really been on the ball.

When I went in for my wee checks tonight though I was awarded with some next-level adorable. Look at how this wee guy looks at his mummy 🥹

I just can’t even with how cute these babies are. Even when I’m feeling utterly rubbish they are a little ray of sunshine ☀️

They have started opening their eyes over the past few days and this wee guy just *loves* looking at the world!

His siblings will be all be off having a feed and he is just staring into the big wide world, watching all the blurry shapes as they pass 🥰

At just 2/3 weeks a kitten’s eyesight is very blurry, mainly shapes and colours- just like a human baby! Though- within about 8-12 weeks their vision is much stronger, almost fully developed!

At this stage their ear canals are open and they are beginning to hear and respond to sound as well 🥰 I find every stage of kitten development fascinating and adorable! Can’t wait to share more with you all.

Calum sent me this wee photo tonight that he took an hour or so ago. This is why my back has been killing me for the past 2 weeks. 4 kittens fighting over the same taps at the milk bar means I am constantly trying to make sure everyone gets their turn.

There are a few things in this photo that hint just a little, into the care I give to my kittens and queens:

The hand sanitiser- I use it *every* time I go in with them till about 3 weeks old. Yes- I’m paranoid.

The phone- so I can record how long each kitten is feeding for to make sure they all get their fill.

The scales- making sure everyone is putting on weight.

These heated mat- kittens can easily become hypothermic till they’re 3 or 4 weeks old as they can’t register their temperature.

Soft lighting- to help keep blueberry calm and happy.

These are just a couple of things in a room full of little tips and tricks I have learned over the past 5 years.

One thing I have not learned? A position that does not kill my back whenever I’m holding babies in place while they feed 🤣 it’s tough at times- but I love it!

When you’d do anything for them… including breaking your back for 20 minutes because you leant over the pen and she decided to brace on you while the kittens had a feed 🤦‍♀️ I knew if I moved she would get up then everyone would be all unsettled.

I don’t think I’ll ever physically recover from that one 🤣 oh well. We now have happy sleeping babies.

🇯🇵 Japanese foods 🇯🇵 On honour of our Honeymoon in Japan next year 🥰 So without further ado, there are the names! I’d love to know what you think!

Blue- Mochi (girl)
Purple- Katsu (girl)
Yellow- Panko (boy)
Pink- Soba (girl)

We are absolutely delighted they are doing so well. We have a decent idea of their colourings but I have a feeling there might be a wild card in there so I don’t want to say anything just yet as their colours continue to develop over the next few weeks 🥰

📣🚨 SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT🚨📣

Well… I think is about time I showed off the little ones 🥰 you’ve all been very patient!

Last week my gorgeous Blueberry gave birth to 4 stunning kittens. I was on my way back from work and got a frantic phone call from a panic stricken Calum to tell me there were two kittens here- and that “I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO- YOU SAID THEY WEREN’T DUE YET!!!”. To which I replied “Cats make their own plans!!!!” Although a bit panicked myself by the early arrivals- luckily I was only 5 minutes away and all was well. Blueberry has obviously decided she has waited one enough and it was time to release the prisoners- she was fed up with the constant brawls happening in her tummy, bless her.

They all seem to be doing well and thriving so far- but I don’t want to jinx it so I won’t say anything too loud 🤫

Blueberry is doing amazingly well and is a very attentive wee mum. She’s enjoying having her meals brought to her in bed, a constant fuss made of her and being plied with treats 🥰

I know many of you are quite invested in each litters choice of names. I have decided on them but I’m not revealing them yet- instead, I’d love to know what you think they are going to be called? Keep in mind they are usually named after foods… That theme remains 😁
