In May 2022, a group of amazing ladies came together to secure a terrified border collie named Beau, lost in Caboolture.

Kim was our contact at St Columban's, where she worked. Kim liaised with the school to allow us to do food drops, went through hours of security footage when we set the food stations, to see if he came in, we sat for hours in the dark together, sharing laughs, when we attempted to trap Beau, and Kim was with me when we finally secured him after 17 days on the run.

It was this rescue that inspired me to start this page.

The world has lost a beautiful person, and heaven has gained an Angel.
Rest in Peace Kim Easton, you were one of a kind.😪

Every single day, people with good intentions try to help a lost or stray dog by chasing him. They almost never catch the dog this way, and it resluts in many dogs being hit by cars and killed....

On the 22nd of September, 2024, in Bendigo Victoria, an 8 month old Beagle x Harrier pup called Max escaped.

Max's father and siblings had been found living under an abandoned house when new owners moved in. Max's father and his siblings were picked up by BARC, Max was hiding.

The new owners decided to keep him, but Max escaped., With very little himan contact and socialisation, this is the story of his 6 week journey, Sherri and her team, supported by Milly's Search and Trap Community Group and My Dog is Missing, why wont it come to me? and a community who came together to rescue a little dog no-one knew.

This is Max from Bendigo

IF YOUR DOG GOES MISSING
Not every dog goes into survival mode, but ANY dog can.

ALWAYS
Add a contact name number to your posts
This could be the difference between your dog being there or not.
People CANNOT ring you on messenger unless a message has been seen and responded to. By the time people find a post, comment, and you see it, your dog could be gone.

ADD TO YOUR POST
DO NOT WHISTLE, CALL, FOLLOW, CHASE OR TRY AND CATCH
Your dog may not be in survival mode, but it doesn't take much to flick that switch. Calling a dog loudly projects your voice, and a dog will run from that, if the dog gets a fright and bolts, it could go straight under a car. This is how the majority of dogs are killed when they are out. Scared lost dogs do not respond to voice.

Posters, letterbox drops around the area are very important, not everyone is on facebook.. Generally a dog stays around the area they have run from..

It is storm season now, and silly season when people let off fireworks without thought to animals.. You can not always be there to keep your dog safe.
MAKE SURE YOUR DOG HAS A COLLAR ON, WITH THEIR NAME AND A CONTACT NUMBER.
Make sure the microchip is uptodate with the correct details.
This may save you pound fees, as people will always try and reunite a lost dog, and contrary to popular opinion, council rangers will attempt to contact an owner if they are called to a lost dog, and will attempt to take the dog home, before they take to the pound.

IF YOU SEE A LOST DOG
DO NOT CALL IT LOUDLY

call the dog, softly, get down low or sit, ALWAYS allow to dog to approach you or come to you.. if the dog turns and walks or runs away, DO NOT CHASE OR FOLLOW.. this will only scare them. Try and take a photo or video, so an owner can positively identify their pet.
