Even though Baetril has mostly been running laps these days, he always manages to surprise us by going somewhere else once in awhile. He made it to the top of shoe storage sitting area all by himself, which is probably why he looks so pleased. 😌

It has been 1 day since he bit someone. He was in a rambunctious but playful mood and was happy to explore the house without getting feisty. 🙃

We love Baetril, but squirrels are not good pets for many reasons, and it's illegal to keep them in many areas unless you are licensed to do so. Social media will make it look like squirrels are so sweet, but they are still wild animals regardless of how long they have been inside a house, and their personalities can vary widely just like humans with only a very small percentage being calm and the majority becoming more protective of their area and nasty about it. Happy from Baetril!

It has been 0 days since he bit someone. He was chewing on the mouse (rodent jealousy?) for the computer, and he was not happy when Mom tried to get him to stop. She ended up picking him up, and he started attacking her. He was a little more feisty and rambunctious than normal overall and had 2 different time outs, although he still did his cuddles with Mom at night.

We love Baetril, but squirrels are not good pets for many reasons, and it's illegal to keep them in many areas unless you are licensed to do so. Poor Baetril got his teeth cut, and boy did he not want to cooperate! He was good for the actual trimming part which only takes a minute, but it was much harder to get him wrapped up properly this time. Baetril doesn't like being a burrito! 🙃 Trim days are pretty much the only times that Dad gets to hold him, but we're sure the trauma from being wrapped for the trim is the main reason why he doesn't like Dad so much anymore. 😕

It has been 4 days since he bit someone. He was really good except for maybe 2 growls at Mom's foot, but he was very gentle taking treats from Mom's hand after he got trimmed. Of course he had cuddle time with her at bedtime. ❤️

Dad added a sound effect for Baetril's yawn today. 🤪

It has been 3 days since he bit someone. We were trying to get him ready for a teeth trim, but he has been really hard to catch this time. He's definitely scared of Dad, and he had some trust issues with Mom for a bit until we decided to give him a pass for today, but we're going to have to get this done soon as his teeth are pretty long now.

You've seen Baetril lap up his formula, but he often needs to wipe his milk mouth off somewhere. Mom trained him to do it on her arm so he doesn't do it on the chairs. 😅

It has been 2 days since he bit someone. He got feisty on one lap and kind of chewed her finger in agitation (not fun because he's due for a teeth trimming), but overall he was good. ❤️

Baetril knows how to solve the dome puzzle easily to get to the butternut squash seeds inside. He pushes it to get the seeds to the edge and fits his nose into the hole in the side to lift it up just enough to get to the treasure underneath. Squirrels are amazing problem solvers, especially when it comes to food!

It has been 1 day since he bit someone. He was focused on his run as Mom's personal trainer and of course made time for cuddles at night. ❤️

Baetril took his sugar snap pea here to eat it, but he discovered the baby acorn on the branch we cut for him halfway through and opted to trade one for the other. He's always the opportunist!

It has been 0 days since he bit someone. Mom passed the sniff test, but he was extra spicy today and did not want to be touched during his run even though that has always been what she does after he jumps on her. He attacked her hands and bit her, and he was worked up enough that he was trying to stick his head up the sleeve of her robe to get to her hand again. She let him do his run on his own after that, but ironically he still wanted his cuddles before bedtime.

Baetril still loves his formula, and we couldn't be happier about it. We order Fox Valley by the bucket to keep up with his needs. He was raised on a slightly different blend when he was a baby, but we transitioned him to something with less fat content when he was a few months old. A typical squirrel will have weaned at around 12 weeks, so Baetril is definitely an exception, although he's not alone in this very good habit!

Disclaimer: Never feed cow, plant based (oat, almond, soy, coconut, etc.), or human breast milk or human baby formula to baby squirrels as the balance of nutrients in them is very different from what a squirrel needs. Feeding the wrong formula can result in severe gastrointestinal issues and malnutrition which can lead to death. Always contact a rehabber first if you find wildlife in need of assistance.

Baetril took advantage of the cool countertop to rest in between laps of his run. He prefers to heat dump on top of the air purifiers the most, but this does the job, too, plus he can keep an eye on the treat drawer. 👀

It has been 2 days since he bit someone. He was pretty good and only growled at Mom once, again because she wouldn't let him go on top of the cabinets in the bathroom. 🙃
