Crazy Mountain Veterinary Service

Today, the Crazy Mountain Veterinary team partnered with Prairie Song Rescue to spay 40 female cats and neuter 20 males, all live-trapped in Martinsdale. Every cat was sterilized, fully vaccinated, and will be released back to where they were found. Each one healthier and no longer contributing to the overpopulation problem.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this possible—the Prairie Song team, our hardworking team, and all those who donated to support this effort.

I wanted to share a fun calving experience we had this season. I've always been interested in trying this upside-down and backwards extraction method for a calf, and we finally had the right situation to give it a try!

It took a few attempts to get the come-along positioned just right, but once we did, we started pulling. I made sure to protect the calf by placing my hand under its tail to prevent it from catching on the pelvis during the extraction. As you can see in the photos, the calf actually rolled as we pulled it out, which was a great sign. Overall, the method worked great!

Ranchers that are willing to try something different make our job fun!
