Just a reminder for Saturday: it is our Grand Opening Celebration 10-2pm! The front office will not be open for medicine pick up or for non-emergent appointments during that time. All discharging horses can be picked up after 2pm Saturday or on Sunday.

We will, of course, have the emergency team on standby if your horse requires medical attention.

Thank you for understanding and we hope to see you Saturday for the Grand Opening!

Please call us today or tomorrow if you need any medicine over the weekend and we will get that ready for you now :)

Calling all 14-18 year old students who are interested in a career in veterinary medicine- this is an incredible opportunity for you to get HANDS ON in a working Vet Clinic!

BVEH Salado (April 17th) and Navasota (April 22nd) are 2 of the 5 locations hosting this equine veterinary science camp!

Cost is $125 per day and includes snacks, lunch and a scrub top... plus at least 5 learning stations within the hospital to get hands on with horses and real cases...look at xrays, see surgeries, help with bandaging and rehabilitation, learn about critical care cases and basic horse care.

Horses and donkeys need dental maintenance throughout their life because their teeth are continuously growing and wearing down. Horse molars are designed to grind rough forage and this process can lead to uneven wear patterns, sharp points and other dental issues. We are delighted to offer this opportunity for hands on experience with Foaling Mares and Neonate Foals.

The “Foal Sitter” Position may entail assisting with deliveries, holding mares while foal nurses, watching for milestones after delivery, milking mares, tube feeding foals, helping technicians restrain foals and baby sitting orphan foals. The opportunities with the mares and foals will usually be at night, as when that is when the majority of the mares deliver.
