The most important things you can do to ensure the success of your puppy is build drive, socialize them and get them in the water as soon as it’s warm. Play fetch every day but don’t overdo it, always leave them wanting more. Get them riding in vehicles, rangers, atvs and boats. Get them in public places as soon as they’re fully vaccinated. Introduce them to something new every day. Socialization is so much more than just introducing them to dogs. An extremely confident, well socialized dog is a safe dog. Get your puppies into water on hot days when the water is warm enough for you to get in. Nothing is harder than getting a year old dog to love the water if they’ve never been in it.
Now that Johnny is fully vaccinated I take him with me everywhere. If he’s scared of something I don’t coddle him we just hang around until he gets comfortable with it then he gets pat on the head and told he’s a good boy. Put the work in the first 6 months of their life and you’ll have a dog that everyone loves to be around for their entire life.
