Lindsay's Langshans Breeding sustainable standard quality large fowl Langshans for exhibition, youth, hobbyists, eggs, and meat. I'm NPIP approved, and will travel to shows.

The Langshan is a fantastic and rare breed of chicken, it's dual-purpose, gentle nature combined with stunning looks make this bird a real showstopper. Currently i have black large fowl, but will have the white variety for sale soon. The Langshan is the most active aisatic breed, an excellent mother, and the roosters are calm. Raising poultry is a fun and rewarding experience!

Just a friendly reminder for those new to poultry, or those that haven’t grasped how the economy has caused an increase in the cost of ALL livestock over the last 5- 10 years. Chickens included!

You won’t find a quality pullet or laying hen for $8-$20 per head nowadays,the way you could years ago. If you do happen to find that on a rare occurrence (excluding literal hatchery birds) then the seller is doing you a huge service, and not even cutting anywhere near “even” on their sale.

Be kind to breeders who are out of your budget! Many of us have thousands invested into our birds, travel all across the states to source them, and spend hundreds just to get them shipped to us as well. Just because it’s not in your price range doesn’t mean it’s over priced. 🫶🏻✨

Breeding season is around the corner, what will you be hatching??? 🐣
Here are a few important things to consider before setting eggs and playing the waiting game.
First off always start with the best examples you have in a breed or variety, next make sure they are healthy and vigorous to ensure that you will have a good hatch rate. For roosters it is best to make certain that your male bird are active and well fed, underweight males tend to be weak and poor producers, whereas overweight males are lazy and lethargic, sometimes lacking in muscle or body strength. For hens it is even more important that they are not only up to the Standard of Perfection but that they are good layers and are not molting. 🪶
We typically keep a couple of hens in with our males but keep track of who’s laying which eggs. Record keeping is essential, it allows you to keep track of your stock in generations.
And lastly plan ahead and make sure you aren’t going on vacation when hatching day arrives!

Show season has ended well for us and we’re moving on to breeding season with our birds. I am excited for the 2025 calendar year, we already have chicks in ther brooder and some stunning young roosters to watch grow out. Our goal is to make nationals with a display of black and possibly a trio of standard blue langshan in Knoxville TN for the Dixie spring show.
