post adoption blues are so real. i had them with harvey when i adopted him at just 19 years old, and i had them again when i adopted azula a little over a year ago. it always feels like “oh sh*t. what did i do”

it takes time! not every adoption is this happily ever after where you and the dog immediately bond. that wasn’t my story with either of my dogs. Azula wanted nothing to do with us when we met her. Harvey had separation anxiety and stranger reactivity, it flipped my life upside down and i healed it against him.

i’m not saying it’s always the perfect fit. but i am saying, pushing through those first couple weeks and realizing that this dog is adjusting to a whole new life, as are you, is so important.

give both you and your dog time before making any decision. i’m SO glad i pushed through. (and that i had people by my side telling me i can’t give up on harvey, thanks ethan)
