We look forward to working together with the community to place the animals in our care. The Regional Center serves as the public animal shelter for the City of Roanoke, the Counties of Botetourt and Roanoke, and the Town of Vinton, and is an “open intake facility”. The Regional Center primarily handles stray animals picked up by the Animal Control Officers employed by the municipalities, but also accepts strays that are found, and animals owned, by citizens of the municipalities served. Each year the Regional Center receives between 4,000 and 5,000 animals. In accordance with Virginia law, stray animals are held for a minimum of ten (10) days if the animal has any form of identification and five (5) days if the animal has no identification. There is no minimum holding period for animals relinquished by owners, but the Regional Center endeavors to hold animals relinquished by owners for a minimum of two (2) days. While at the Regional Center, animals who have completed their hold time and not been claimed, or have been relinquished by their owners, are evaluated. Animals that are considered to be healthy, treatable and/or rehabilitatable are, subject to the availability of space, transferred to the Roanoke Valley SPCA or another rescue organization for adoption. Animals that are not considered to be healthy, treatable or rehabilitatable, are humanely euthanized once the animal has been held for the required length of time. Pop-Up Event TOMORROW!

In place of our Fursday Thursday (we'll be closed June 19th), we will be extending our adoptions hours tomorrow from 1-7pm. We are FULL in our large dog rooms, so adoptions are urgent. Please consider stopping by to meet a new forever friend- we have plenty! 🥰

Adoption fees are waived with an approved application. Please just be sure to bring all members of the family by to meet prior to adopting. All pets have been spayed/neutered, are current on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick/HW prevention.

*Lots of cute cats & kittens available as well. 💕

Sisters looking for their forever homes!

Eureka and Jaanvi put on their saddest faces for our photographer last week. They were caught red-handed in a chicken coop out in Buchanan, so they received a lifetime ban from Botetourt County. 😆

As long as you aren't a chicken, these girls are sweet, gentle, and well-mannered. They don't need to be adopted together, but would be the total package if you did. They're roughly 90lbs and about 1 year old. They've been spayed, are current on vaccines, microchipped, and protected against fleas/ticks/heartworms.

We'll have both ends of the spectrum today with Sophie and Gus. They'll be hanging out at Wag N' Wash - Roanoke, VA from 12-2pm today- adoption fees are waived.

🌸Sophie is a sweet, easy-going senior. Besides a little arthritis, she's happy & healthy. We also have a dental cleaning schedule later this month to freshen up her breath. 😆
⭐️ Gus, a reckless and rowdy teenage hound, who thinks every day is the best day ever!! With a little fine-turning, he will be a great family dog.
