Meet Nia and her pup Sierra - they have a lift to Alberta on July 19. They are cabin sized chihuahua crosses. We may have a foster spot (there’s a line up) but would love to take advantage of a rare summer flight angel opportunity.

Nia was brought by a Good Samaritan to a free spay and neuter clinic after she was seen dumped on the street just before giving birth to puppies. She and her pups were taken in to care. Sadly all but Sierra succumbed to distemper. This mum and daughter are the survivors and are very close. Nia is 1 yr 8 months and Sierra is 8 months old. Nia weighs 15 lbs - she is good with cats and dogs. Sierra was nervous with cats but did not chase. Sierra has spent her life in the shelter so will be less confident in the world - she can worry about new strangers but warms up affectionately. Sierra has a non surgical luxating patella (knee).

If you think you may be interested in helping them with a road to a happier life or are interested in adopting get in touch at [email protected] or message us here.

Nia and her pup Sierra have a lift to Edmonton on July 19th. They are looking for an adoptive or foster home to take advantage of this flight offer, which isn't common in summer months.

Nia is 1.8 years old and her pup Sierra is 8 months old. They are small chi crosses (Nia weighs 15 lbs and they both fit in cabin). The potential foster for them in Edmonton has a foster at the moment (who may be placed before July 19th but no guarantee).

Nia was brought into one of the spay and neuter clinics offered for free by the SPCA PV. She had been dumped on the streets in poor condition, just days before giving birth. When the SPCA asked about the pups they learned they were also on the street, so they found and brought all of them in. Sadly all but Sierra succumbed to distemper. Sierra and her mum Nia are close and would be amazing if they could both get to Edmonton. Nia is good with dogs and cats. Sierra doesn't chase cats but is scared. Sierra has spent her early life in the shelter so she's more timid, but warms up with affection. We know small dogs go quickly so we thought we'd try to take advantage of a rare summer flight angel offer. If you think you may be a good fit or can help with fostering in Alberta - email [email protected] for more information

Thank you to our long time volunteer Mario Corona for getting one last travel mission to PV for the season. Cleo enjoyed his company and was the bestest girl as she prepped with vet checks, grooming and the big airplane trip. It was all worth it to land in the excited and loving arms of her new family - Jacqueline and John of Vancouver island. Jacqueline and John made the trip to the mainland on a long weekend so they could be there for her arrival. She continued her streak of amazing with a quiet calm night in a hotel before she’ll head to Vancouver island to check out her sweeping ocean views, her very own yard to rest up before taking in what her new life has to offer. Congrats Cleo

Thank you to our long time volunteer Mario Corona for going down to PV to get in one last travel mission for the season. Amazing Cleo was the bestest girl and enjoyed his company as she got herself ready with vet check, grooming and the big airplane trip. She is warmly welcomed by her excited new family - Jacqueline and John of Vancouver island. Enjoy those ocean views Cleo - sure is better than wandering dirt roads for scraps. Cleo is such a sweet girl and we’re so happy she got to come before flights pause for summer. Cleo mentored three pups who also recently left so it’s nice she also got her turn. Congrats sweet girl. You are safe and you are loved.

Leo has an amazing family in Kelowna and extended family in Port Moody. He bolted after a squirrel in Port Moody and went further than the area he knows well enough to find his way back. His family is searching and he’s been seen frantically running the area. If seen please contact the number below.

Thank you to Jenny of Victoria for flying to Mexico to get 3 dogs - Teddy, Bella and Flora to Canada and onward to Vancouver island for Flora and Bella before flight season ends until fall. Thank you Meghan for keeping dogs overnight in Vancouver (again) and kindly donating points to offset travel costs. And thank you to Cara, Stephen and their PVCA alumni pup Catalina for fostering Flora in honour of their recently passed PVCA alumni.

Registered Charity that stands by our dogs for life

Federally registered in Canada since 2012, PVCA Animal rescue finds loving homes in Canada for dogs looking for a second chance in life. A sister charity to the SPCA PV in Puerto Vallarta, we rely on our dedicated volunteers to support the transition of these dogs on their journey to happiness in Canada. These dogs were failed in the past - abused, neglected, abandoned, but with the kindness of strangers, they have this chance. We rely entirely on donations and the kindness and dedication of our volunteers and those committed to adopting.
