Due to the power being out the phones aren’t working. Everyone stay safe and warm out there. We pray for all the livestock, farmers, and people working to clear the roads and restore power through this storm 🙏🏻

It is brisk out there! How are your cattle coping?

Some quick reminders for those managing calving in blizzard conditions today:

❄ 102 F is the normal body temperature for calves. Anything under 100 F is considered hypothermia. If temperature is below 95 degrees, intensive care is needed.

❄ If your hot box or normal warming location is full, consider alternative options for less severe calves... the floorboard of a pickup, setting up a pen in a heated shop, surrounding the calf with milk jugs filled with hot water, etc.

❄ Colostrum absorption is more effective in warm calves.
