Yesterday the standards had fun running a barn hunt fun test and today they hung out at the lake to keep cool. They even got their own personal floaty although Tova was not amused to share it with Derby as he bounces around too much on it.

I'm a CGC evaluator and we get a newsletter periodically. The most recent one that came out had a very interesting fact in it which I strongly believed but it is cool to finally see it. They did a study to see the most versatile breeds and check out #10

"Breed participation (titles earned) in 7 sports.

A versatility index was created to answer the question, “based on AKC data, which breeds are participating in the most AKC sports?” The results were surprising.

#1 Belgian Tervuren, #2 Field Spaniel, #3 Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, #4 Belgian Sheepdog, #5 Beauceron, #6 Flat-Coated Retriever, #7 Border Terrier, #8 Bearded Collie, #9 Dalmatian, and #10 Standard Schnauzer."

They aren't telling me anything I didn't know based on my own dogs but it is nice to see it finally confirmed! You want a versatile dog, we have the breed for you!

The very first litter I bred set a high bar for all my other litters. I got to spend the weekend with Peter while he played barn hunt and he is always thrilled to see me. The Lost Boys will always be special as will their owners. Peter's mom, Kim, recently shared a post and she says it better than I ever could. Kim is an amazing partner for Peter and I couldn't ask for a better home. To accomplish this therapy title level shows the dedication Kim and Peter have for these visits.

I'm behind schedule on getting this posted, but definitely not due to any lack of importance.

As a therapy dog, Peter is such a perfect fit for the job while also being so versatile in ability to do just about anything asked of him. He is such a confident, fun loving, energetic and often times mischievous soul. He loves to run, jump, romp and wrestle. Yet when he is fit with his therapy vest, there is like a solemness of duty that is displayed in his interactions with the people he comes in contact with. People often complement about that when we are out doing visits. He has such a presence about him when he's on the job. He is as gentle with the smallest of kids as he is with the elderly.

Peter recently received a package from AKC with a gold medal and certificate. He has surpassed 400 visits and received the Distinguished Therapy Dog title (THDD). On a monthly basis, Peter visits three nursing/rehab facilities and one hospital.

It is such an honor and privilege to have Peter as part of the family. Thank you, Jennifer Jo and Liz Hansen for entrusting him to me a little over five years ago.

Another fun filled weekend of barn hunting in Springfield, MO.

Tova finished her RATCHx7 and earned another leg towards her REMx!

Roger had a great time earning another RATCH leg and a high in class.

Mimi had a great time and finished her RATM!

Peter and Kenoa earned legs towards their RATCH and Keona even earned her TKN!

Iggy rocked the rings like always and finished her RATS!

Many of the Mischief crew are in Springfield barn hunting but Hedgie took the opportunity to sneak away to do some scentwork. On the first day she went 4/4 q, completed 3 element titles and 1 overall title!! Finishing: Advanced buried and overall Advanced title, Excellent Containers and Excellent Interior. She celebrated with a treat from a specialty treat store, her favorite Three Dog Bakery and a nap with her bestie Jewel. We will report on the rest of the Mischief and tomorrow sniffing later!!

Ran up to Purina farms today to cheer for Mary and Rogue at the AKC Rally Nationals! Big congrats to them for qualifying to attend in Rally Excellent! They run twice more tomorrow and we wish them good luck!

Also got to love on Puzzle from the Narnia litter who was there supporting her BC brother who qualified!

Fun scent work weekend in Illinois!

Tova was a rockstar for me. She is over scent work and finds no value in it anymore but is working for me. She started the weekend needing 3 Q's to finish her overall master title. On Saturday she earned her final container Q to finish her master container title!! ❤️❤️. I would have been overjoyed to just get this but today she went in and earned her second master interior Q!! 💚💚💚. Thanks to our instructor Misty for helping come up with ideas to keep her motivated!

Derby is working on his excellent elite titles but quickly told me he does NOT want to hunt in heat anymore at 12 yrs of age. Noted, he will only hunt in cool and cold months from now on. He can have whatever he wants at 12 yrs old! He still managed to earn some Qs despite his dislike of the weather. He thought the best part of the weekend was the pool the trial provided for dogs and often laid in it. 🥵🥵🏊

Tova's adopted daughter, Iggy, was on fire this weekend earning MANY Qs and finishing her overall advanced title. Woot woot! 🎉🎉

A fantastic weekend of barn hunt!! Lots of Qs and even more laughs this weekend.

Peter and Kim finished their RATM title this weekend and earned judge's choice for their positive teamwork!
Keona and Kim earned more Q's towards their RATCH

Jennifer and Tova went 3/4 in Master leaving one leg needed for their RATCHX7. They also finished their CZ8PB (platinum bronze) title!

Dan and Mimi ended the weekend needing 1 single Q towards their RATM!

Christan and Mali earned more legs towards their RATCH!

Christan and Jesko earned their RATN title!

Misty and Iggy earned Q's towards their senior title!

Avery and Valentino earned their first barn hunt leg and had great enthusiasm looking through the tunnel together the rest of their runs.

Mischief might be primarily standard schnauzers and Lowchen but we have a great variety of extended family including border terriers, westies, beagles and American foxhounds to name a few.
