Chino Hills Betta Rescue

Hi everyone, it’s been a long time since I last posted. A lot has been happening in my life and I’ve had to put the rescue on a hold. I’ve also been having an issue with potential adopters so I’ve been a bit discouraged to post new bettas for that reason. I’m still rescuing bettas on my own time. I currently have a beautiful female named Rose. She was surrendered at a pet store and I took her in. Originally I thought she was holding eggs because she was HUGE but it turns out she was very overfed. I’m working to get her to a healthier size and she’s doing really good. I may make an adoption post in the future for her. But as of right now I currently don’t have any bettas up for adoption at this time!

Sad news to share. Oliver has passed on 😞 he kept fighting for a year straight while being disabled. I’m glad he’s finally at peace. SIP Oliver 🙏🏼

I haven’t been able to rescue any bettas recently because I’ve been dealing with health issues. I’m hoping once I get better I can get back into rescuing 🥺

Last week I had someone reach out to me that needed help with their betta. He had developed dropsy and they needed help with trying to save him. They drove all the way from LA to bring him to me, in hopes he could be saved. So far he is doing well with his healing process and it looks like I was able to reverse his dropsy, as you can see the before (left) and the after (right). He still has a long way to go in his healing journey but so far all he’s been showing is improvements besides his swim bladder issue.

Fingers crossed and prayers that this sweet boy makes it 🙏🏼🩷

Most likely going to end up keeping all the bettas in my rescue since most of them have already been with me for a year now. They’re all happy and I don’t want to throw them off from their comfort 🥺 Guess that means I can rescue a couple of bettas soon!

Sad news to share, Blake passed away today. Unfortunately due to overbreeding, he had chronic swim bladder issues. I did what I could to save him but his body gave out. SIP Blake 🥺❤️

Meet Josie, the female betta fish. I rescued Josie after a tragic incident that took place at my job. Someone decided to put her into another tank with 2 other betta fish. I luckily found all the bettas at the right time and they were all safe and recovered. Josie is named after the character Josie Saltzman on Legacies.

Josie is a very happy girl and is very social with people and the bettas around her. Despite her traumatic event, she’s thriving!

Tank requirement: 3-5 gallon filtered and heated tank
Food: pellets

Caring fee: $10

A caring fee is a fee that goes towards the food, medication, and temporary tanks for the fish that are under my care. This is NOT a rehoming fee, this is a fee for all the care that goes into helping my betta fish rescue!

Meet Steve, the halfmoon betta fish. I rescued Steve because he was really stressed and depressed. Since being in my rescue, he’s bounced back and has beautiful fins! Steve is named after the character Steve Harrington on Stranger Things.

Steve is an introvert but can also be really playful! He has a sweet personality and just wants to be loved and cared for. He loves being around people.

Tank requirement: 5 gallon filtered and heated tank
Food: pellets and frozen food

Exciting news to share! George has finally been adopted after being the longest betta in my rescue. I’m so excited for him! 😇🙏🏼 He’ll be in a 5 gallon tank now, yay George!

Meet George, the beautiful veil tail betta fish. I THINK he’s a veil tail but I can’t remember.

I rescued George because he had been in my store for a long time and was becoming depressed. I can’t believe nobody adopted this gorgeous fish!! He’s got such beautiful colors. George is named after the character George Karim in Lockwood & Co.

Since being in my care, George is happy and thriving! He’s such a sweet boy and loves your company! He’s ready for find his forever home ❤️

Food requirement: pellets or frozen food
Tank requirement: 5-10 gallons with heater and filter, and lots of decorations!

Oliver is such a sweet and beautiful boy and I feel so bad for him. (Disclaimer he’s in the cup temporarily as I’m I’m currently doing a water change on his tank)
This poor boy can’t swim properly because his fins are way too big. He spends his whole day laying down on his plant 🥺 I’ve tried everything I could to treat him for swim bladder but it clearly isn’t the issue since this has been on going for several months now. Also have treated for bacterial, fungal, and parasites but they didn’t work since he doesn’t have an infection. He doesn’t have fin rot and doesn’t seem to be super stressed since he still has all his colors and no stress stripes.

I wish I could find a way to make him happier but all I can really do is keep him comfortable and cared for ❤️ He unfortunately cannot be in a big tank with a filter. I currently have him in a wider tank with shorter length and keep the water halfway up, because he has a hard time getting to the surface.
