Now and then in rescue you come across individuals that just absolutely blow your mind... in the wrong way 😅 I'm a liberal thinking person, but sometimes you just have to speak out about the woke ones.
In the act of being totally transparent I will say that I'm not vegan. Do I have the total and upmost respect for people that are vegan/plant based = Absolutely yes!! & do I also feel like as a bird rescue I should be myself, also yes! Does it mean that I don't whole heartedly care for all the birds in my care, No!
It's just a difficult and sensitive issue because a lot of people will imply that people that aren't 💯 vegan simply cannot love animals, and that's not true. Imagine trying to say that to someone about our dog, or cat.. that we cant possibly really love them as we eat meat - we just wouldn't tolerate that notion!
And neither will I tolerate other 'rescues' trying to slander people for 'inciting animal abuse' 🤦😅
I am always very proud to say I was originally taught by a pigeon fancier, and I contribute a lot of what I know to that fact! Yes some can be total D'Heads, just like any humans can be, but the fact is we have no right to keep pigeons from their owners.
Now obviously there are exceptions, and I myself have kept hold of a few if the owner has expressed complete disregard, or that they would pts. But from my experience this is very few and far between, and I have personally met some amazing pigeon fancy folk! Again this is just my stance, my option and it isn't one size fits all.
The point of my post is, that certain 'rescues' are happy to leave reviews on other honest, caring rescues pages citing 'animal abuse' because they return racers to their owners... and this is frankly just ridiculous, and I for one will call it out. I will always always support my rescue friends. We all have the same mission after all!
'Megan Pigeon' please get a wee grip of yourself ❤️🤦😘
