My sister Libby’s Lucky Mustangs and I are the only two teen riding competitors this year at the MYWY - Mustang Yearlings/Washington Youth and we are having a blast together. So far she’s won two classes and I’ve won two. There are only 4.5 points that separate us right now so it all comes down to the freestyles coming up in 45 min.

*For a good laugh, watch until the very end. 🤣*
I know I keep saying this but I’m so dang proud of Steel! Yes he spooked at the garbage on the ground but he came right back to me and kept trying each obstacle. Some horses would shut down with these challenges but not this guy. He just kept at it, was able to gather his courage and made it happen.

I’m blown away with how incredible Steel is doing. He got his simple lead change as if he’s being doing it for years and stayed in control and calm the entire time. It’s obvious we haven’t worked on side passing (I sped that part up during the video) or haunch turns, but I love how much try he had when I asked. He’s still green but it’s not going to take long for him to become someone’s number one horse.

Steel and Latte from Libby’s Lucky Mustangs did amazing in the handling class this morning. This is asking a lot of these horses to perform with all the chaos around the arena and they did awesome.

Super Steel!
I’m so proud of how far this gelding has come over the summer. We are excited to head out for the MYWY Mustang Madness TIP Challenge Event in the morning. If you’re new here, Steel is part of the MYWY - Mustang Yearlings/Washington Youth TIP Challenge and will be available for adoption. He’s 5 years old standing around 15.1 and is ready for his next adventure!

Steel has the sweetest, smoothest, rocking horse canter! If you’re new here, Steel is a 4-5 y year old South Steens mustang that will be available for adoption at the MYWY Mustang Madness TIP Challenge Event in less than a week. He stands at 15.1 hands and is about 1,000lbs.

Despite the chaos of dogs, kids and other farm life, Steel stands for the farrier as if he’s been doing it for years. Hard to believe he spent most of his time as a wild stallion.
