All these little birdies have come to me in the last 2 days alone 🫣
First picture: severe cat injury, the little one has got a very large wound to his back, he’s on pain relief, antibiotics and he’s had his wound cleaned out with manuka honey applied.
I have been honest with the finder, at this stage I am unsure how things will turn out, but he seems to be fighting 💜
Little blackbird came to me 2 days ago, again, severely catted. He had a huge swelling to his abdomen and within an hour or so after warming up in the incubator he started bringing up cat food that the finder had fed him. He hadn’t been fed by them for a couple of hours, however his body could not and would not digest the food.
He also had foul smelling yellow p**p/dischage, which indicated infection… he unfortunately had been with the finder without antibiotics over night, so the toxin from the cats saliva had taken hold. He passed away within a few hours of being with me 💔
3rd picture: little one came to me 2 days ago, he was with a wonderful rehabber prior to coming here but they were going away. He also potentially needs a permanent space in my woodie enclosure as he had a very nasty compound fracture on his wing - which was seen to by the vet. He also has a broken leg, but it doesn’t stop him from getting around.
He’s on pain relief, antibiotics and needs his wound cleaned and dressed with physio every couple of days. He’s doing really well, self feeding and has lots of spirit.
4th picture; young woodie with mild MBD, (metabolic bone disease), he has weak legs and can’t weight bear for long, however is self feeding and is very feisty. He’s on appropriate supplements, vitamins & calcium and is under a UV lamp.
5th picture: adult woodie who had a collision. He sustained minimal injuries, however has a bit of a wonky leg. He can walk on it fine, but it is strapped in to a natural position in hope it will heal fine. He’s not eating or drinking by himself yet, due to being too nervous in captivity, so is tube fed by me. Adult woodies do not cope well in captivity bless them.
6th picture: young feral from my garden flock , of course 🤦🏼♀️ struggled to take off from my garden. She’s emaciated - even with a crop full of food. So she’s very poorly. Foul, black, gooey p**p and has lice and mites! She’s on appropriate meds and supplements too 🙏🏼
It’s been an extremelyyyy hectic couple of weeks, it’s been hard to find the time to do a post, but these are just my latest ones!
I still have a few more older patients in rehab 🫣
