Ella's Blind Cat Sanctuary A safe haven in Cyprus for blind and vulnerable rescue cats. We rescue, treat and care for cats needing love, safety and a second chance. Europe/U.K.

Follow our journey and help us save more lives. The streets are not safe for blind cats and they cannot survive as strays. Ella’s Blind Cat Sanctuary is their hope of survival in Cyprus. We also take in other rescues needing help on temporary basis and also rehome into safe and loving homes. Those not adopted will always have a home at the sanctuary. We depend solely on people’s donations which co

ver vet, food and litter and upkeep of shelter. Without people’s contributions we cannot exist. All cats ready for adoption are vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms and ear mites and tested for FIV/FELV, Corona, Parvo and Giardia. Adoptions, approximate travel day is 3 weeks after rabies vaccine. All are microchipped. Costs of flights are for the adopter since we do not charge an adoption fee, but we can assist with fundraising if needed. Adoptions within Cyprus will have a small adoption fee, helping to support the next rescue.

❤️ ANOTHER LITTLE LIFE CHANGED ❤️

We are absolutely overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our supporters.

After enquiring about sponsoring our beautiful Sasha, the wonderful Cristina Maer learned that Sasha had already received two kind sponsorship offers. Rather than walking away, Cristina did something truly special.

She opened her heart to another cat in need.

Cristina has very kindly agreed to sponsor our handsome little Humphrey until he finds his forever home. ❤️🐾

For those who don’t know Humphrey’s story, he was found all alone at just four weeks old and simply would not have survived on his own.

Today, thanks to people like Cristina, Humphrey is safe, loved, well-fed and receiving all the care he needs while he waits for the family he deserves.

It would have been easy for Cristina to say, “Maybe another time,” but instead she chose to make a difference to another vulnerable life.

That kind of compassion is something truly special.

From all of us at Ella’s Blind Cat Sanctuary — and especially from little Humphrey — thank you, Cristina, for your kindness, generosity and for opening your heart to this precious little boy. ❤️

People like Cristina remind us that there is so much good in the world.

Today, another little life has been changed because someone chose to care. 🐾❤️

❤️ WOW… WE ARE ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY ❤️

Not even five minutes after posting about our beautiful Sasha, we received not one, but TWO wonderful sponsorship offers. 🐾

A huge thank you to Claire & David and Debbie Lennon for stepping forward to help this special girl.

We were particularly touched to learn that Claire chose to use some of her birthday money to sponsor Sasha. What an incredibly selfless and compassionate thing to do. ❤️ Instead of spending it on herself, she chose to help a cat who needed a second chance.

The kindness and generosity shown by both Claire & David and Debbie means more than we can put into words. Not only does it help provide food, veterinary care and everything Sasha needs, but it also reminds us that there are some truly wonderful people in this world.

When Sasha arrived at the sanctuary, frightened and vulnerable after being rescued from the streets, she had no idea that people she would never meet would one day care so much about her wellbeing.

From all of us at Ella’s Blind Cat Sanctuary — and especially from Sasha herself — thank you. ❤️

People like Claire, David and Debbie aren’t just sponsoring a cat; they are genuinely changing lives.

Today, they have made a real difference. 🐾❤️

🐾 Could You Be Sasha’s Sponsor? 🐾

Meet our beautiful Sasha. ❤️

Sasha arrived at Ella’s on 1st April after being rescued from the streets, where life simply wasn’t safe for a blind cat. Like many of our residents, she arrived frightened, unsure of her surroundings, and understandably nervous about the world around her.

But look at her now.

With patience, love, and the security of sanctuary life, Sasha’s confidence is growing every day. She has started exploring more of her surroundings, has ventured outside into the enclosure, and absolutely loves spending time on the cat tree. Best of all, she has begun making friends and has formed a particularly special bond with our handsome boy, Noodles. 🥰

Sasha is a wonderful reminder that blindness does not define a cat. It doesn’t stop them from playing, making friends, exploring, or enjoying life. Given the chance, blind cats adapt in the most incredible ways and show us every day just how resilient and brave they are.

We are looking for a kind-hearted sponsor for Sasha. Sponsorship helps us provide the food, veterinary care, medication, and daily support she needs to live a happy and secure life at the sanctuary.

Without our sponsors, we simply couldn’t continue giving cats like Sasha the second chance they deserve.

Could you be the person who helps write the next chapter of Sasha’s story? ❤️

If you would like to sponsor Sasha, please send us a message. Every sponsorship makes a genuine difference and helps us continue caring for some of Cyprus’s most vulnerable cats.

And Sasha would like everyone to know that being blind has never stopped her from climbing the cat tree, making friends, or living her best life. 🐾💕

Today our hearts are broken as yesterday we said goodbye to our beautiful Simba. 💔🐾

Over 10 years ago, Lin met Simba and his sister when they were just two weeks old at the vets after tragically losing their mother. She took them home, bottle fed them, loved them and gave them the chance at life they so deserved.

At just 8 weeks old, Simba began showing signs of wobbly kitten syndrome, but after treatment he bounced right back and went on to live a long, happy and healthy life. Around that same time, his sister became very poorly, was in and out of the vets for weeks and heartbreakingly passed away from FIP. When the vets ran tests on Simba, he too tested positive. The vet advised that he should be put to sleep… but Lin refused. She looked at this tiny little boy and chose hope instead.

And thank goodness she did.

Simba went on to prove everyone wrong. Apart from being neutered, he never needed the vets again his entire life. He was healthy, happy and so deeply loved. He spent his days safe at the sanctuary, surrounded by care, warmth and the person who fought for him from the very beginning.

A few weeks ago, Simba stopped eating and tests revealed aggressive cancer. Yesterday, Lin had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go peacefully.

Simba got his name because as a baby he looked just like a little lion cub… and he truly was a little lion. Strong, brave and so very special. 🦁

Ten beautiful years.
Ten years that he would never have had if Lin had listened all those years ago and given up on him.

This is why rescue matters.
This is why giving them a chance matters.

Lin is absolutely heartbroken, but we hope she knows just how proud she should be. Because Simba didn’t just survive… he lived. And he lived a life full of love because of her.

Run free now beautiful boy.
You were so very loved, and you always will be. 🌈🐾

Sometimes we get so caught up in the worry, the vet bills, the fundraising and the heartbreak, that moments like this remind us exactly why we do what we do 💛

These are the updates that keep us going.

Maya arrived at Ella’s in 2022 after a difficult start to life. Partially sighted and carrying scars from a dog attack as a kitten, she was overlooked time and time again. Quiet, gentle souls often are. But we always knew there was someone out there who would see just how special she is.

And then there’s Lando… rescued as a tiny kitten back in 2021 alongside his sister Jade. Jade found her forever home, but Lando waited. And waited. FOUR years later, this beautiful boy was still patiently hoping his turn would come.

Now look at them 🥹

Maya, safe and relaxed, enjoying home comforts and cosy naps.
Lando, loved beyond words, exploring his new home and finally living the life he always deserved.

Seeing these babies thriving in their forever home means absolutely everything to us. Every rescue, every sleepless night, every fundraiser, every tear… it’s all worth it for moments like this.

Thank you to the wonderful adopters who open their hearts and homes to cats who so often get overlooked. You truly change lives.

This is the reason we do what we do 🐾💛

A huge thank you to the lovely Maria Åkerblom Chrysostomou ❤️

Maria has once again shown such incredible kindness and support to Ella’s. Not only has she very generously donated more money to help the sanctuary cats, but she has also donated a huge supply of newspapers that we were so desperately in need of.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Maria has also donated TWO awnings for the sanctuary ☀️🐾

These awnings will make such a huge difference when we move to the new sanctuary, helping us create much needed shaded areas to keep the cats cooler and more comfortable during the intense summer heat.

The support we receive from people like Maria truly means the world to us. Every donation, every kind gesture and every bit of help makes it possible for us to continue caring for these beautiful cats ❤️

We do however need a little extra help from our amazing followers 🙏

Would anybody be able to help us collect and deliver the awnings to the sanctuary? Or perhaps know someone with a van who may be able to assist?

Please send us a message if you think you may be able to help.

Thank you again Maria, your kindness and generosity are so deeply appreciated ❤️

We’d love to give a little shoutout to this lovely lady who continues to support animal charities across Cyprus, including Ella’s Blind Cat Sanctuary 💚

Not only does she help raise funds for charities, but she also creates beautiful unique gifts and souvenirs using recycled plastics collected from our beaches ♻️🌊

Supporting local people like this means so much — helping animals while also helping keep Cyprus beautiful.

If you’re nearby on 6th June, pop along and show some support to all the wonderful stalls and charities involved 🐾

It’s coming up to June now and on Saturday 6th June there will be a Saturday market in Penera next to the Tipsy o Turtle. 🐢 I also sell Cyprus insight merch to raise
