Today I bring to you a very overdue update on Emmie! She has done well with us. She prefers to stay to herself most of the time, but definitely living her best life. We’ve been having frequent vet visits to get her hyperthyroidism under control. It’s been a huge struggle to get some meat on her bones. Other than that, she’s been doing great!

Hello friends! I apologize for our absence - to say we’ve been busy this year is an understatement. However, a horrific animal welfare concern in my hometown has taken our focus.

Please be warned that this post contains disturbing information depicting abuse and cruelty to cats.

On February 27, 2025, 3 Jayco RV employees, John Lipscomb, Travis McKay, and Arlin Hochstetler (Elkhart, IN) shoved 2 live cats in a box, taped the box shut, then proceeded to place the box containing the live cats into a trash compactor, which crushed them and killed them. Anyone who knows our mission knows that our goal is to ensure that every cat knows love, comfort, and safety during their last moments on this earth. These unfortunate babies only knew hatred, fear, and pain at the end. I cannot even begin to imagine what it was like to die that way.

Initially, these 3 men were charged with level 6 felonies for torturing / mutilating a vertebrate animal on June 9th. By June 12th, all charges were dropped. The Elkhart County prosecutor Vicki Becker decided that because the cats were somehow “damaging Jayco’s roof”, the domestic cats are considered vermins in under state law, allowing these men to get away with these horrific acts.

We are outraged. We are heartbroken. We are shocked.

(Probably) last update of the year! Today, we brought home Emmie. This lovely lady is believed to be around 12 years old. The shelter we rescued her from had a total of 408 animals (no joke)! As you can imagine, the environment and condition of the animals was less than ideal. She’s already adjusting well. We’re so grateful to welcome her into the family!

Well, it’s looking like we’re going to have 2 unplanned vet visits this week. Leave it to Bradley. Gotta keep reminding myself why I do this!

3 week checkup for Lindee. Good news: infection seems to be gone. Bad news: the bladder stones are still there. Now, the plan is to give her another 3 weeks on the prescription food. If no improvement, moving toward surgery.

Poor Lindee has bladder stones and some sort of urinary tract infection:( praying the medicine & prescription food improve things so we can avoid surgery! She goes back in 3 weeks to find out if she’ll need surgery.

Sweet Bradley, all snuggled up. He’s officially been seizure free for roughly 6 months!!! Praying the medications continue working their magic.

We had a little bit of a longer break than expected, but we got our second foster family yesterday. These babies are just a few days old! Momma cat is not quite used to humans yet, but we’re up for the challenge!
