12 years ago…it all started with Petunia

Before I started rescuing pigs, I had already been rescuing dogs for years. Pit bulls are close to my heart and they tend to be misrepresented. Skye (pictured) was the sweetest, gentlest dog you could hope for. She lived peacefully with all of my animals until she passed away from cancer early this year.
From pitties to piggies…I love them all 💙

Pearl walked all the way across the yard just to get a little extra love from me ❤️

💚 PLACEMENT SECURED FOR LOLA! 💚
We are SO happy to share that Lola has found placement! 🐷🏡 Thank you to everyone who shared, reached out, offered help, or simply cared enough to stop and read her story. Every share truly matters. 💚
If you were hoping to help Lola and are feeling discouraged that you missed your chance.... please don’t be. There are hundreds of pigs just like Lola desperately waiting for someone to step up for them. Pigs who need a safe place, a second chance, and someone willing to say, “I’ll help.”
If you were interested in Lola, please reach out to us. We may be able to connect you with another pig who desperately needs a home or help finding placement. Lola got her happy ending. Let’s help another pig get theirs. 🐷💚

🐷💔 LOLA HAS BEEN WAITING 3 MONTHS… AND NOT ONE APPLICATION. 💔🐷

📍 Gainesville, Georgia

How is this sweet girl still waiting? 😔
Lola is 3 years old, about 250 lbs, and she LOVES people. She’s the kind of pig who wants to be part of the action, get attention, and make herself known — including her favorite little habit of nibbling toes! 😂🐷👣

But right now, Lola has nowhere to go.
Her owner was recently diagnosed with dementia, and through absolutely no fault of her own, Lola needs a new foster or forever home. 💔

She’s not a “problem pig.”
She wasn’t abandoned because she did something wrong.
Her family’s circumstances changed, and now Lola needs someone willing to change hers. ❤️

🐷 ABOUT LOLA:
✨ DOB: April 4, 2023
✨ Approximately 250 lbs
✨ Sweet & social
✨ Loves people and attention
✨ Great with kids
✨ Has lived around dogs- NEVER LEAVE UNSUPERVISED
✨ Outdoor pig who needs appropriate space and shelter
✨ Not spayed

Lola doesn't need a perfect person.

She needs a safe place, proper care, room to be a pig, and someone who will love her for the big personality she is. 🥹❤️

🏡 CAN YOU FOSTER LOLA?
🏡 CAN YOU GIVE LOLA HER FOREVER HOME?

Even if you can't take her yourself, PLEASE SHARE THIS POST. 🙏

Lola has already gone two months without a single application. Her person is out there — we just haven't reached them yet.

🐷 One share could put Lola in front of the person she's been waiting for.

📋 To apply, join Eastern Snouts Pig Adoption and Rehoming and find the application under the FEATURED tab.

Petunia and I have always had such a strong bond since I brought her home over 12 years ago. She’s showing her age now (and blowing her coat) but this girl is as bonded and loyal to me as any of my dogs ever were. So why are pigs viewed differently and valued less…even by animal lovers?
So many pigs don’t even get to live to see their first birthday. I hope more and more people can make the connection and choose to leave animal products off their plates.

Dear 4H parents

Please consider opening your hearts and minds to a new way of teaching your children about farm animals.

When they beg you to keep the animal as a pet you have a choice to make.Instead of making your child send every farm animal sanctuary a desperate plea to save the animal filled with pics of their beautiful friendship taken at your farm complete with barns and amazing acreage…. Be their hero

Make no mistake or ancient reasoning, this decision will be one they remember FOREVER!! Instead of blaming sanctuaries who are bursting at the seams with limited funding use the experience to show your child you are listening to them and that you love them enough to not traumatize them.

They will remember loading their friend onto a trailer to never see them again for their entire life… read that again

Your excuse for saying no is always the same, the friend can’t stay because they don’t have a “use” on a farm. I am kindly asking you to consider an alternative to what “use” means to you.

Picture waking up and as you are looking out your kitchen window you see your son or daughter already awake and out of bed without you asking. Then you see a big pig walking right behind them. You realize they’re up because they were too excited to see the friend that you said yes to.

Every day for years you get to watch both of them living their best life. You learn things about pigs you honestly never knew because you were taught all sorts of myths carried from generation to generation.

One day as adults you’ll get to share fun stories together about all the shenanigans between your child and their friend you let stay. They’ll still feel the relief of the day you said yes like it was yesterday.

This scenario could look very different depending on the choice you make. I once helped parents of a child that wouldn’t come out of their room for months after they chose to say no.The day they come to you pleading and telling you how much they love their friend that they’ve bonded with for months consider what’s more important… twisted tradition or your child

We teach children “ Life is about choices” now it’s your turn to show them you practice what you preach🫶Instead of teaching them how to let go….. teach them the dedication of letting them stay

With Love,

~ An emotionally and physically exhausted farm animal sanctuary director that has to tell your child no but will remember the pics they sent me for years

I used a pig as an example in this letter but insert any farm animal

This letter is dedicated to my wonderful father who grew up on a farm but opened his mind and heart to how amazing pigs are. He always said yes to every stray I came across over the years and will leave a legacy some day of kindness to his kids and animals

Florence Lauderdale Animal Services has several pigs still waiting for forever homes! Many have lived at the shelter for several months with no interest in adopters. The shelter is full of animals and with limited staff, the pigs can only get so much attention.
They are sweet and friendly pigs and deserve homes of their own. If you have experience with pigs and can provide a safe home, please go to the shelter to adopt them!
