Housesitting - Pe Ell, Washington
Sept. 23rd - 26th, 2023

This adventure saw me 2 hours south of Seattle in the tiny town of Pe Ell and let me tell ya.....talk about the middle of nowhere. I was so honored to housesit the Nudledogs for my dear friend Jenn! 2 of the sweet pups were hospice care as they had cancer, 1 had Cerebral Hyperplasia and required lots of care lifting and helping move around safely, 1 pup was deaf and the last 2 pups had no medical issues. It took a day but we quickly got into our routine and the pups settled nicely! Sweet Bailor, the big boy with CHP, was very content on HIS sofa but was able to slide off on his own to tell you he needed to potty. If he wanted to go out, I would use his "sling" to help walk him out and down the steps to the fenced in yard then help lift him up to come back in. Carl, who was in the final days of his cancer fight, was blind (no eyes) and required help getting in and out as well. Nala, the little cancer fighting pup, was such a sweet soul and content just laying in front of the fireplace or on the sofa as we watched TV. Sweet Austin, the deaf pitty was a wild child but super sweet. My time with the Nudledogs was short but they left a lasting impression on my heart!

(The day that I left, sweet Carl crossed the Rainbow Bridge after a valiant fight with cancer. It was truly my honor to care for his every need in his last days. Fly free sweet boy!)

Farmsitting - Springtown, TX
Aug. 31st - Sept. 7th, 2023

My 8th work trip of the year took me down to Springtown, Texas and the 5150 Farm. This was a combo trip of helping on the farm and getting the new art gallery set up which was a first for me! The 5150 Farm was a beautiful 5 acre farm with all kinds of chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, rabbits, sheep and tortoises and the cutest pups! We were sooooo busy and the weather was so hot outside that I actually didn't take my normal hundreds of pictures. Because of the temps, it was imperative to do numerous checks throughout the day to ensure everyone had clean, cool water and that they weren't suffering any ill effects of the heat. Thankfully the farm animals did just fine! When I wasn't helping with farm chores, I was helping Heidi move in and set up her new art gallery for which she had her grand opening for while I was there! What's not to love about amazing friends, beautiful surroundings and adorable animals! Thank you Heidi and Travis for having me! This trip was full of heartfelt people, soul filling conversations and laughter so hard my sides still hurt!

South Lake Tahoe - Housesitting
August 8th - 24th, 2023
Part 1

My first combined work trip and vacation was nothing short of amazing. I returned to South Lake Tahoe, yep the infamous location that had 5ft of snow just while I was there in March! This time, the neighborhood looked just a tad different for I could actually see grass, pavement and stop signs 🤣. I was soooooo thankful we didn't have have snow this time but we did have the remnants of a hurricane!! As soon as I walked in the door, the pups were soooooo excited to see me again! Most mornings, I spent a few hours at the lake relaxing or kayaking then would come back and spend the rest of my days with the pupperonies, 3 vizslas....Nandi, Shanti and my heart dog Sasha. It was so different this visit being able to take them to the river to run and swim or to the lake. These pups LIVE for the river.....you say the word and they KNOW! It was also great to see the chickens come out of the coop this visit....not much they could do with 5+ft of snow. Their sweet crossbeak hen wasn't exactly thrilled with the shower I gave her but she certainly loved being blown dry with the hairdryer again. The flock is sooo sweet! To see them out and about, scratching and sunbathing was so neat! The pups even enjoyed going outside to sunbathe, well I don't blame them because I enjoyed it too 🤣. I also got to see my friends the hermit crabs but they kept to themselves. Highlights of this trip included picking wild arnica then making arnica oil and being less than 5ft away (not by choice) from a huge brown bear......yikkkkkkkes. 2 weeks flew by and before I knew it, I was saying see ya soon to the pups and my friends! Thank you Lorilyn and Steve for having me back and I'll see you next April!!

July 28th - August 5, 2023

Back with 2 of my all time favorite pups ever Sunny and Ladybug along with their small flock of chicken friends!! These two girls are just pure joy to watch and they are always soooo happy to see me. With the weather being beautiful, we spent soooooo much time outside because these girls are all about play!! I would go into the garden to pick fresh produce and both enjoyed trying to stick their noses through the fence to see what I was up to. Our mornings consisted of me sitting on the couch watching tv, drinking coffee while the girls tried to beg for a second breakfast then cover me in kisses. Evenings involved tv watching, couch cuddles and relaxing. At bedtime, the girls were the best bed hogs! See you next month girls!!!! Thank you so much Missy and Nate for having me back!

Farmsitting - West Linn, Oregon
July 4th - July 24th, 2023
Part 1

My 5th travel job of the year took me south to West Linn, OR and back to the amazing Hill Farm! I drove up the driveway and as soon as the LSGDs Pearl and Cora saw me, they instantly remembered me from last year! Those two pups are just the most laid back and sweetest pups. They are serious when it comes to doing their job of guarding the farm yet will roll over for cuddles and give you kisses too. Inside was 2 kitties, both very skittish but eventually I won over the black one with treats and she decided I wasn't too scary. Outside was a beautiful flock of 30+ chickens, 2 duckies and 3 goaties. The weather was really hot so I spent lots of time making sure they all had clean, cool water to drink numerous times each day and provided lots of handcut fresh fruits and veggies for added electrolytes. Let me tell ya, if you've never seen a goat eat watermelon, you are really missing out! The chicken/goat yard also benefited from my 3 week stay and with the help of my dear friend and her husband who live 8 minutes away, we were able to build them a new platform for play and rest then made new roost bars for the coop! I was truly blessed to have been able to spend so much time with my dear friend while I was down there......great food/drinks, amazing conversation and even learned how to fly fish!!! Before I left town, I even got to meet two of my awesome facebook chicken friends and their critters which was super fun!! Thank you so much Sara and Rick for having me back to watch your crew and beautiful house!!

Farmsitting @ The Muddy Pug Farm and Animal Sanctuary
Hobart, Washington
June 20th - July 4th, 2023

Part 1

Where oh where shall I begin?!? My 4th travel job of the year took me off island and due east of Seattle to Hobart, Washington for my first time ever farmsitting at an animal sanctuary! It was pure magical. The Muddy Pug consisted of 2 massively handsome cows, Cupid and Swish, 24 sweet goaties, 4 sheep, 6 ducks, 1 turkey, 7 hens, 1 rooster, 4 button quail, 9 bunnies, 2 barn kitties and 3 puggles. As soon as I walked outside, I was greeted by the barn kitties Jason and Ms. Voorhees. Jason would follow me EVERYWHERE and they both were just the sweetest! My mornings typically started between 6-6:30am with feeding all the residents and making sure they had fresh water. once done with that, I would head back down to the house for a little rest and some coffee with the puggles. By 9am, I was back out for the super hard work.....stall/enclsure cleaning. When caring for 63 animals, let me tell you stall cleaning solo is crazy insane hard work! Typically I would start out in the lower barn since that area was the hardest. Cows p**p and p*e A LOT and they go EVERYWHERE oh and not to mention they lay right in it so it was important to get their area cleaned first so they could go back to sleep after breakfast. With the lower barn done, I headed to Senior Living, then to the Sheep/Mini's, followed by the chicken/duck area, the rabbit area, the bantam hen area then the lower house enclosure. Once all the stalls/enclosures were clean, I headed back to the barn to get the feed carts refilled for evening feed and swept the barn. Now that everything was cleaned, I had a few hours to relax. I would grab some lunch, a little nap then I always ended up back out with the sanctuary residents giving lots of love and cuddles. I quickly realized that Cupid and Swish LOVED to be brushed......yes, the two 1,300 pound cows loved it!!! Usually the goaties would quickly demand scratches too! Before I knew it, it was dinner time for everyone and med time for 3 residents. After evening feed, I would refills waters and then head back down to grab dinner myself. When it was bedtime, I would walk the enclosures and tell everyone good night and turn the lights off in the barn. This routine happened every single day and night for 14 days. It was crazy, insanely hard work but was soooo rewarding to see the animals happy and healthy! Thank you to Jennifer Long and husband Greg for trusting me with the beautiful sanctuary and charming farmhouse! See you in December Muddy Pug!
