All donations to our organization are tax deductible. Our organization is run by former animal rescue / shelter board members and volunteers who have

life-long experience with animals. The stray, homeless, and feral cat population is an issue in many areas, and Cedar County is no exception. We work tirelessly to keep this population under control through our trap, neuter, vaccinate, release (TNVR) program and via rescue through our foster to adopt program. We are a NO KILL organization, with exceptions made only under extreme circumstances for animals who are unable to be helped, and such decisions are not made without the guidance of our trusted local veterinarians. CCLAW maintains positive working relationships with many animal shelters and non-profit rescues throughout Iowa which allows us to network and ensure the best possible outcome for all cats in our care.

Meet and greets in TIPTON this week by appointment! 📆

Name: Smudge
Age: 1.5 - 2 years
Gender: Male, neutered
Vaccinated: Yes
Adoption fee: $80 (our cost to neuter and vaccinate )

CCLAW rescued Smudge from the streets of Mechanicsville where he was left to fend for himself every day. He was very skinny/emaciated (see previous post) and sick with an upper respiratory tract infection.

Despite the suffering and cruelty that he has endured, Smudge has so much love ❤️ to give, and the only thing he wants is someone to love him back. He is VERY (!) affectionate, and will give you all of the hugs with his little arms that you could ever possibly want. BUT, you will have to put up with him chosing his foster mom (one of our volunteers) over you at first. 😹

If you would like to arrange a meet and greet, please fill out an application (found at the top of our Facebook & Pet Finder pages) for pre-approval in order to expedite the adoption process if you decide he would be a good fit in your home.

🧡ABAILABLE FOR ADOPTION 🧡

Adoption fee: $80 (our cost to neuter and vaccinate )

CCLAW rescued Smudge  from the streets where he was left to fend for himself every day. He was very skinny/emaciated and sick with an upper respiratory tract infection.

As mentioned above, he is now neutered + vaccinated, and is eating like a champion! He may need a second round of antibiotics to help finish, fighting off his upper respiratory checked infection, but he is ready for his chance to claim a family as his own.

Today, on our way back from IHA for another spay / neuter day, we stopped at Scooter’s for coffee 🧋. When the employees saw our car load of rescue cats 🐈‍⬛ they asked if we wanted “pup” cups for them! This was a new experience but the cats ❤️LOVED ❤️ their treats when we got home. Thank you Scooter's Coffee for brightening our (and the cats) day!

Can you help❓

We rescued this VERY friendly and VERY skinny boy today. He is going to the vet 🏥 tomorrow for neuter, vaccines, and antibiotics.

He needs someone to open up their home temporarily while he recovers / gains some weight. Then, he would like to put him up for adoption so he never has to suffer illness and food insecurity again. 💔

Unfortunately, he was likely dumped. 😞
This sweet soul was found in Mechanicsville (just like the last one).

🏠 TEMPORARY foster needed for 2-3 weeks 🏠

These 3 brothers (born 06/2025) might need a temporary foster home the beginning of September for 2-3 weeks. They will have been neutered and vaccinated prior to this time.

We are very sad to report that Simon has crossed over rainbow 🌈 bridge tonight. 08/18 @ 10:20 PM. He only knew love and kindness in his last days and was being snuggled in the arms of his foster mom when his tiny heart stopped beating. This is the hardest part of rescue. 💔

We rescued a sick kitten last night. He went to the vet 🏥 this morning and got spruced up a bit, but is still feeling tired and lousy.

He was underweight (can feel his hips and ribs) weighing only 1.48 pounds and had a re**al prolapse due to severe diarrhea (VERY dehydrated and got IV fluids 💧 ). And, since it’s summertime, the flies have been attracted to this poor boy and his back side was covered in hundred of teeny tiny maggots. He was also INFESTED with fleas and ear mites. When the vet submerged him in water for the bath, the water turned red 🩸 , which was from tiny little sores oozing (from flea bites).

The vet also ran a stool 💩 sample and he had a very large load of roundworms. So, even though he is a bit under the recommended weigh to receive flea /tick / worming medication, we felt the benefit outweighed any potential risks and he was properly treated.

This sweet baby is also on antibiotics and eye drops for his respiratory infection. ❤️‍🩹

He did eat his calorie dense food when we got home, so that is good! Right now, he is taking a nap on his heat pad until it’s time to eat again. ❤️

His bill today was $210.00. If you feel it in your heart, please help us to cover his care. 💵 We can only help these babies because of your continued support. It is MUCH appreciated.

We took in this VERY SWEET, young, female cat who was found in MECHANICSVILLE today. She is a little small but over all seems very healthy and must have been getting food from somewhere. She was definitely hungry but didn’t attack the food bowl like many of our rescue cats do who havnt eaten in a long time.

She was scanned and does NOT have a micro chip but we are hoping someone comes forward to claim her soon. This precious girl will be going to IHA to get spayed and vaccinated and will be available for ADOPTION very soon! Her fee will be $80.

This is what we do every Tuesday all year long. We transport to Iowa Humane Alliance for spay / neuter and vaccinations. Sometimes we add a 2nd trip during the week. TNVR for colonies, rescue to adopt, personal pets…you name it. All helping to control the cat population. You help make it all happen!

Update 8/12/25: $150 has been raised toward our goal

As many of you know, CCLAW has 4 main volunteers, who currently use their own vehicles to carry out rescue missions, attend vet appointments, travel to TNVR locations, and make several trips to Cedar Rapids each week for spay / neuter appointments. This adds up to alot of miles, added maintenance, and personal out of pocket costs. 💰

We want to keep doing what we do and would sincerely appreciate your help in reaching our goal to raise 💵 $5,000 💵 to purchase a reliable vehicle 🚗 ! A cat 😺mobile!

Ideally, the vehicle would be similar to the one below. RELIABLE, low(er) mileage, and spacious for hauling several cats / traps at a time. So, likely looking for a mini van.
