🌼 A Bittersweet Welcome 🌼
You just never know what’s going to happen when you breed animals. Some of my tiniest girls do amazing during labor and delivery, and sometimes even my bigger toy poodles—like Lemon—struggle more than expected.
Lemon looked like she was carrying half a dozen babies, but it turned out there were only three. Things don’t always go smoothly… and this was one of those times.
Every toy poodle breeder’s nightmare is seeing green discharge before a puppy is born, and sadly, that was the case with Lemon. She went to the vet two days ago for X-rays, bloodwork, and a sonogram. It looked like there were three large pups, but only one heartbeat was found. She wasn’t in labor, so we scheduled a C-section for the next morning—hoping she might still deliver naturally overnight.
Later that night, Lemon delivered two puppies on her own. One had passed before birth. The other came out strong and breathing—our little miracle girl. 💛
Yesterday morning, Lemon underwent a C-section to remove the third puppy, who had sadly already passed too.
So out of three expected tiny toy poodle puppies, only one survivor remains. But oh, what a fighter she is.
We named her Lumi, short for Lemon’s Miracle—because that’s exactly what she is. ✨
She’s already full of life, light, and love, and we’re so thankful this sweet baby girl made it here safely.
Welcome to the world, little Lumi. You are the light after the storm, and you already hold a very big place in our hearts. 💖
