There were two red fat ladies, then there was one ….

Last week I made the decision to make an appointment… one I attended with with Isla .. still holding a small streak of hope that she would travel home with me wearing her usual disgruntled expression, before finally flopping to sleep the ride home.
It was not to be, she had two tumours, and the tumour behind her eye had wreaked its havoc, we were told hours or days before it ruptured , at that moment my heart broke.
The two fat ladies were Skye and Isla, full sisters who were the beginning of a wonderful life with huskies. To which I owe so much.
Skye was the Queen of the kennel, Isla was princess Margaret, flirting with the guys, got pregnant had nine kids hung out for belly rubs and ate way to much given the chance and sadly developed spondylosis prematurely, she never had cross words with her sister until the pain began to show, and even then it was still a gentle bickering.
End of an era, meanwhile we comfort the Queen who herself has the same unpronounceable cancer coursing her body..
