I have some good news about Betsey. The past 2 months, she had been needing a very low dose of insulin once a day. Then I tried to not give her any at all and 2 1/2 days after her last dose of insulin, I tested her blood glucose and it was perfect. As of now, she hasn’t had any insulin for 10 days and every day , her urine test comes back negative for glucose. If she can keep that up, then by the time her birthday comes around next month, then she’ll be in remission. That would be the best birthday present for her, she was close to remission a year ago, but because she broke a tooth, it messed around with her blood sugar and remission never happened. I hope that this time, nothing will mess it up.

It’s an exciting double birthday day today! Reginald is turning 17 and Bobby is 13.
Reginald came to me on a Saturday evening in April 2009, he was about 8 months old, hungry and homeless. After making sure nobody was looking for him, he became part of the family.
Bobby came to me in mid October 2012 as a foster kitten along with his brother. They were six weeks old and Reginald was absolutely in love with those kittens. Seeing how sad Reginald was when the other kitten was adopted, Bobby was adopted into the family. Since it seems like they were both born around the end of August and because Reginald loved Bobby so much, I made Bobby’s birthday the same as Reginald.

I have some great news about my Bobby. He had his 2 years check up for his congestive heart failure and not only is he doing awesome, his numbers have even improved. Two years ago when he got diagnosed, we were told that most cats with congestive heart failure will live about 6-12 month, but some can make it to 2 years, and some even 5 years, so Bobby is well on his way to being part of a small number. To think that euthanasia was one of the options the day he got diagnosed, I’m so glad we gave him a chance to see if the treatment would work for him. Actually, he often acts more like a kitten than a cat about to turn 13 years old. Good for him!

This is what I do about 50 times a day. Now that she has a brush that she loves, all she wants to do is get brushed.

Nap time for Bobby and Boule. I don’t know which one of these two has the strangest way of sleeping.

A few weeks ago, Betsey had her yearly checkup at her regular vet. I just received that last of her test results and can proudly say that everything is absolutely perfect. I’m so proud of my Betsey!

I put some kibbles for Betsey in her dish and she proceeded to remove them from her dish, then left them there without even eating them. Strange little girl! Now I need to clean up her mess!

Betsey has been getting some hairballs lately, she never used to get any until she got diabetes, and she hates it when I comb her, she will hide from me when she sees me coming with the comb). I went shopping for a brush for her but couldn’t find anything soft for her (I worry that her back may be sore from getting her shots). I decided to check out the baby section at the store and found this cute Minnie Mouse brush, she absolutely loves it! And it’s cheaper than brushes for pets!
