** CERTIFIED GOOD DOG ALERT**

In just under 2 years working as a team, Yeti and I have achieved our first SAR certification together. We are certified in Land HRD with NSDA (analagous to IPWDA Crime Scene).

This test threw a lot of environmental variables we had not seen before (loose chickens in your vehicle search? Cows hanging out on your northern boundary line?) Yeti has never had a farm animal around her search area and yet she worked through them to correctly perform her TFR.

I am very proud of her commitment to work despite the pressure of a new location (an island!), new distractions, and a slightly stressed handler. I am grateful for my mentors who have listened to me meticulously break down our trainings, objectives, outcomes, and identify the gaps to fill to get us here.

Now the focus switches from certifications to being operational. 💪💪

As most of you know, a few years ago, Rougaroux developed a pneumothorax from a grass awn (foxtail). It took three different hospitals to get the care he needed. The vet bills stacked up pretty high and I was fortunate to have many individuals and organizations help with the cost of his care.

The foxtail left a lasting impression in a bad way, and resulted in multiple visits with a cardiologist since then. I reached out to so see about protecting Rougaroux's thorax from any additional trauma, and to ease my worries when he is out working. Without hesitation, they provided him a vest.

Recently, another K9 has been going through a similar journey as Rougaroux. had two lung surgeries and is beginning his recovery. The cost of his life saving care is over $20,000 and is helping his handler cover this.
