Now that we are on the way. It’s time to get kind of sappy 😅

This whole journey has been a ROLLERCOSTER if I’ve ever seen one. There was times I was really confident and then other times I was discouraged or frustrated, or didn’t think I would make the show. I kept pushing forward anyways, and I can happily say we are able to ride at the show. We’ve gone thru bolting issues, trailer issues, not wanting to be caught, and so much more. I am so grateful for everyone who helped and supported me this whole time, I would not be here without them, but I am also grateful that I was able to work up the courage and guts to do it myself. We have worked really hard and i truly think that even if we don’t place or anything there, we still won. This was a 7 year old mustang stud gelded not super long before we got them and to think that I still was brave enough to ride him at all is enough of a win for me. I do think I got a really good horse out of this in the end, despite how difficult some things have been for him and I. My goals for this show are just to go, show the horse that I turned him into, and have fun. I have made a video montage of the whole journey with him, and looking back, we both have come so far. He taught me just as much as I taught him. I am so happy that I get to continue our journey together after this, and there is no limit on what we can do.

I can’t wait to see everyone and their animals at the show tomorrow. Let’s have some fun this weekend!! Good luck everybody!

This has pretty much been my mantra the entire journey with spirit. Telling myself this has gotten me from being terrified to ride even in the roundpen to riding over obstacles in the big arena and having much smaller worry he will take off. Sure. I’m scared sometimes. And yea, sometimes I don’t feel comfortable. But we push through, and I gave my trust to the horse. There will be bumps along the way, I expect that. But I’m confident that if I keep this up we can work through almost anything. If I don’t place at the show I don’t mind. In my book, we won already. That’s my only goal right now. Just show up with the horse I have. I’m happy with that. 😁

This was today’s ride. Went out in our arena, used the WHOLE arena, did all our obstacles, and rode in the roundpen with my freestyle wings on. This horse is blowing me away, I can’t believe the progress we made in a few weeks 🥹 almost cried when he did the pedestal, no hesitation at all. I am so happy I got to keep this one. He is amazing me more and more by the day.

Mom and I just got done trimming Spirit’s feet before it got too hot. His fronts were just really long, but his hinds need some correction that will take some time. He stands so his pasterns sort of roll to the inside so his back feet grew very distorted. His feet are like trimming diamond. 🥵😫. He was a superstar but wasn’t sure about stretching them forward on the pedestal so I will work more on that over the next days so we can file more of the toe and flare off. Overall I’m very happy with how it went and he will feel tons better.
