This poor Spaniel had very painful ulcers in his mouth - a condition called Canine Chronic Ulcerative Stomatitis. Medical treatment often doesn’t work and multiple extractions is the only way to get the ulcers to heal.

Severe gingivitis /stomatitis is common in cats of all ages. Many cases cannot be controlled with drugs and , as a last resort, extraction of some or all of the teeth is the only way of controlling the pain

This poor cat is suffering from chronic gingivo-stomatitis (inflammation of the lining of the mouth). When medication fails to bring relief only extracting some or all of the teeth controls this painful condition. It is very common in cats of all ages.
