1-on-1 lessons should be more than just your group class without the group...

Having a curriculum path is great but what is the point of the one on one attention if the individual needs and concerns of the owners cannot be addressed when they ask.

I remember, years ago, I made a woman so angry she sat down and would not participate in the lesson one day because I brushed off her concern about jumping. This was lesson 3 and in lesson 3 we taught place and doorways.

Just because I think the path I have laid out is the best path to success overall, that doesn't mean taking a detour to make sure my clients feel seen or to address the biggest pain point in their lives at that moment, is a bad idea.

If you want to follow my a-b-c 1-2-3 for training a dog check out digital dog school, all of my 1 on 1 clients get it as a "textbook."

So that in our lessons we can really get into what matters most TO THEM in that moment with their dog.

Private lessons should be a place to ask questions, get a deeper understanding, find out not only what works for your dog but understand why what your doing doesn't work and what will.

Trainers need to work had to provide:
Real solutions in the format that works best for you,
Training exercises you will actually do,
Taught in a language you can understand
Without judgment or ridicule
To help you build the life you want to build with your dog, not the bill of goods they think a "trained dog needs"

What do you think? How has your experience with 1 on 1 dog training felt?

Your dog isn’t failing the walk. The walk is failing your dog. 🚫

I said this to Sarah last week after she described her daily 6 AM “death march” with her reactive German Shepherd.

20 minutes of pure hell. Lunging at every dog, person, and squirrel. Neighbors crossing the street to avoid them. Sarah in tears by the time they got home.

Sound familiar?
Here’s what 87% of dog owners don’t realize: That walk isn’t training... it’s trauma rehearsal.

Every single day, you’re both practicing the meltdown. Your dog expects chaos. You expect embarrassment. The cycle never breaks.

PLOT TWIST: In order to find a solution to the explosions... they have to happen WAY LESS often

I never start with the walk.

Think about it: You wouldn’t throw a kid who can’t add into calculus and expect success, right?

Your dog needs 3 specific foundation skills FIRST:

Confidence
Motivation
a Great Relationship

Sarah’s dog?
First: stay home... play...learn... grow

then: Perfect loose-leash walks past 4 dogs without a single reaction.

The secret? She stopped forcing the walk and started building the foundation.

Want the exact 3-step sequence that’s worked for 1,447 reactive dogs and counting (including the “hopeless” ones)?

📉 Obedience without satisfaction will always break down.

You can teach all the sit, stay, heel in the world.

But if your dog’s needs aren’t being met?
• If they’re starving for movement…
• If they’re drowning in fear…
• If they feel disconnected from you…

No amount of commands will stick.

Dogs don’t thrive on control.
They thrive on connection, confidence, and clarity.

This is why real training starts with meeting needs—not stacking commands.

🧠 Inside Digital Dog School, this is where we begin.

Hey! Do ya'll remember keith!? After a year in the shelter, took a chunk out of someones calf.

He was June’s Second Chance Ranch Inc. FIRST dog to pull ever. I told Lindsay to get comfortable with him being her dog... But we got to work.

As soon as I knew he loved the ball I knew he had a chance. Because of this woman's hard work that fella and now many more like him have a home!

Let's help her keep her hair and help some dogs, horses and Vets all at the same time!
