There is a bit of gossip going around from people who do not like me. I would like to address the topic so that we can all be perfectly clear.
The puppies from my last litter, as you know, were not planned. Even so, every effort went into their care and wellbeing. It still is.
I tried everything to find them all the best homes but only found one amazing home.
The only applications I got were fake and from this group of people who have no interest in them, but we're trying desperately to elicit confrontation and upset.
I have worked for many years in the animal industry as a vet nurse. I will tell you how so many people deal with unplanned litters or pups they cannot sell or rehome.. some are euthanized at vets, some are killed by their 'breeder', some are dumped on the side of the road, some are left in shelters, some are kept with their breeders who try their best to care for them and socialise them appropriately and give them time and attention (some do so successfully but how much one on one time can you spend with lots of babies at once), some are given away to just anyone or sold online to whoever will take them.. and more..
So what happened with the 9 puppies I could not find homes for??
I contacted a reputable rescue with a much larger following than me, to help me.
The pups are in foster care with experienced carers, getting one on one care.
They have been neutered and up to date with vaccines as they have become due, after I did their first ones and microchips and health checks.
Their adoption application is 8 pages long, has required home checks and subject to approval.. they don't go to just anyone and will stay with their foster carers until they find a home.
Let's be clear.. I did not want to put them into rescue.. but after discussions with other breeders, several vets and colleagues, I decided it was their best chance to find a forever home. It is not best for me, I have been trolled, people I know have been contacted by these trolls and told how unethical I am. Comments and posts have been made on pages.
Here's the thing.. it's not about what people think of me. It's about these beautiful babies finding homes. It's never been about money or my ego.. it's always about what's best for the dogs.
So think what you will.. everybody reading this has seen my puppy posts, been asked to share.
As they get older, they get harder to place in homes. This is their best chance to find the families that they deserve. Doing what's best for them is why I keep my head high, despite what people are saying. And despite it being the best option, it still really hurts that I couldn't find another suitable option. It shouldn't feel good putting animals into rescue.. but sometimes it's just the only choice to make.. it's not about what I wanted, it's about what the dogs need.
