It has been overwhelming to see the kindness and caring of so many people who have responded to Tootles passing. It means so much! I've received so much love from friends, family and my other precious dogs. Here are Muffy and Kipper who have given me lots of snuggles and they also miss their best play buddy. Sending gratitude!

Thank you everyone who sent prayers up for precious little Tootles! Sometimes prayers are not answered the way we want but last night it became quite obvious that her decline was causing her great pain. I may never know what all was going on with her little body but her veterinarian and I tried everything we could to help her rally. She would cry if I literally was not walking around with her. It was obvious that the prayer for her was the gift of setting her free from her pain. That precious feisty girl being consumed by pain was beyond horrible. Tootles health issues were a reflection of the irresponsible puppy mill industry that breeds dogs that have health issues like her liver shunt and her wonky little legs etc.It was a gift for me to have her in my family as there was never a boring moment when she was around. Thanks to everyone here for being a part of her life! Her canine Family members will miss how much she played with them all. I'm going to post several pictures and videos that represent this special girl. It's going to be weird walking around my house without her attached to my pants. We lost our Schnauzer boy, Sammy, in April and I'm sure they are running free and happy over that rainbow bridge. My heart is truly breaking but I know the memories will be mostly full of laughter. I'm forever grateful to national mill dog rescue for saving her and for giving her the necessary liver surgery that gave her these last year's of feeling great. I was the adoption manager when she was rescued and I got a call about this Maltese that needed a staff of six because she was so demanding. Never did I realize that would be me and my other dogs. I know she wrapped her way around many peoples hearts. Here's to the love we get from our Canine family members! Rest in peace my angel!

Tootles is having a very hard time pulling out of her weakness. We are trying everything to help her to become her happy joyful self again. She could use your prayers. Her brother, Harry, often sits beside her and I know it gives her comfort. Thanks! Tootles mom.

For the first time in many days, I felt like basking in the sun and going down to the pond. I scared my mom because I'm still very wobbly. She watches me like a hawk but I like that too. Do you see the big Koi?

03/05/2017

Thank you all! The vet called mom and said I didn't have Pancreatitis. Whew! She thinks it is probably gastritis. I sure don't feel good but mom is watching me very closely and helps me if I whine just a little. I hate feeling so bad. Sleeping seems to help me the most so I'm going back to sleep. Thanks and keep the prayers coming because I still can barely walk and ........

01/05/2017

Tootles spent the weekend in my lap under the heating pad and is quite miserable when she tries to walk or even stand. We have a vet appointment today but she sure could use prayers, positive energy and good thoughts.

I haven't been feeling very good because of my hurt leg. Kipper loves playing with me and doesn't understand why I can't play. One video is kipper trying to get me to play. Mom told him I couldn't play so he then started licking my ear. It was slobbery but made me feel loved? ❤️ sorry it is so dark.......🐾🐾🐾

Happy Easter from the Tootles Bunny!

10/04/2017

My silly, snuggly, funny, playful brother Sammy crossed the Rainbow bridge tonight in his sleep. Mama says he had a bad heart condition for 3 years and we were so lucky he felt good and was so happy. I'm especially going to miss snuggling with him...... National Mill Dog Rescue saved him in 2007. I'll miss you,Sammy!

I'm still having problems with my right shoulder and elbow. I've had acupuncture, daily heat and massages, herbs and rest. I had X-rays that show nothing is broken but I do have joint issues. I have liver disease (liver shunts) and have to be careful what I can take. My vet is helping a lot and I started grabbing mom's pants again today and feel a bit better. Mom says I have to stop so I don't get hurt again and to take it easy. Well..... I'll try.

19/03/2017

Mom is keeping me quite to help my shoulder heal so I've been snuggling all day! I love snuggling and getting all this loving and sweet talk.

18/03/2017

I was stepped on by one of my doggie family members and now I have a hurt muscle. Mom is glad that it wasn't worse and said I shouldn't grab the bottom of her pants when she comes home because I don't pay attention to the other dogs. She is putting heat on it and giving me a nice massage. I have a yucky herb that helps too. Here is me walking with my sore muscle.

14/03/2017

Sammy and I like to help mom work on her computer.

05/03/2017

Wow! This was before my surgery in March 2013.

05/03/2017

My mom gives me choices when I eat. It is because of my liver shunt. I sometimes have a hard time because food can make me feel yucky when the toxins are dumped in my system. She was happy tonight because I was eating so well.

02/03/2017

Sammy and I have been beautified. I was a pretty good girl too........ mom was proud of me.

01/03/2017

Mom has been calling me a scruffy muffin lately. That will change today because I'm getting beautified. We all are so this house will look and smell great tonight.

This is so sad because these dogs were from a hoarder. They ate only oats and a powdered baby food and had dog food for the first time when rescued. My mom was there to document the dogs. You can see her writing all the info and today she will intake them. Wow!

Here is a look behind the scenes as our new residents are checked in after an emergency rescue. National Mill Dog Rescue worked with local law enforcement and the Department of Agriculture in another state to get these dogs out of a hoarding situation and bring them home to Lily's Haven. They are now warm, safe, and have plenty of food and fresh water ... and LOTS of love.

Sammy, Muffy and I are getting ready to support the Falcons in the Super Bowl. We are wearing our red and black, in case you didn't notice. Our mom grew up in Atlanta and she is excited. The second picture shows me getting ready for defensive moves.

I like this!

31/01/2017

My mom was gone for 3 weeks and when she got home, I grabbed her pants and didn't want to let go.

26/01/2017

My mom has been out of town but says she misses all our shenanigans. She comes home soon and we are so glad but we have loved having our friend stay with us too. We have been on our best behavior. She thinks it is special (it is) that I pull on her pants just like I do to mom.

Yes it is. Thanks Red and Howling!

Here is my Malamute/Collie brother Harry, enjoying the 6° outside and here I am enjoying snuggling under the covers with my sweater on. We are very different but love each other anyway. I'm so sad for dogs that can't snuggle and get warm in the cold winter weather. My mom says they sometimes rescue dogs that have had frostbite on their little ears.

Pip is doing well! Yay!

We are thrilled to report that our little puppy mill survivor Pip, who had liver shunt surgery yesterday, is recovering. Time will tell if this procedure worked, but for the time being, he’s under the careful watch of his excellent veterinary team at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. We are hopeful that he may be released to his foster home tomorrow.

Your ongoing support of our Healing Hearts fund allows us to make these critical and many times life-saving medical decisions for our puppy mill survivors. From all of us, we truly thank you for giving these dogs the chance to know healthy freedom from the cage. http://weblink.donorperfect.com/NMDRVetCare

Pip is a buddy of mine as we've been together because my mom has helped with decisions about his liver shunt since I have a liver shunt too. Please keep Pip in your thoughts and prayers as he is having surgery right now. I hope this helps him have a healthy liver and wonderful and long life.

Some of you may recall little Pip, a tiny Maltese puppy we rescued in January 2016. When he arrived he was blind, weighed a little over 2 pounds, would pace and had other symptoms. We quickly had him tested which confirmed that he had a liver shunt and bladder stones. A liver shunt is a birth defect where blood flow to and through the liver is markedly reduced or absent. After two days on medication and an appropriate diet, he fortunately regained his vision. His liver shunt surgery was performed in February 2016.

Unfortunately, subsequent testing has not shown any improvement in his liver and it has been determined that additional surgery is necessary with a slightly different technique/procedure. Pip is having this complicated surgery today at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. Please keep him in your thoughts.

To Tootles family....it's me....Emmitt...I wanted to let you know that your beautiful girl has arrived safely here at the Bridge. There were so many of us there to welcome her home. First in line to welcome her was her brother Sammy.
Tootles has been healed now, her body has been restored, and she has been running and playing like a puppy ever since she got here.
Tootle will stop by to visit you from time to time. She will be the shadow you see from the corner of your eye, the faint bark in the night, the gentle brush against your leg, or just that peaceful feeling that comes over you from time to time.....just Believe
