I feel like I'll be watching this video on repeat. I'm just buzzing after this weekend.
Flatwork lesson first on Saturday and worked on Flix being a bit more responsive to leg, we also did some leg yielding and worked on canter transitions including canter from leg yield.
Second lesson on Saturday was poles/SJ working on control in this lesson. Trot poles, halt, trot poles then onto jump land and trot down poles. Lots of turns and transitions throughout, I was getting confused with rights and lefts 🤣
Flixy had a wee sleepover and had 5⭐️ B&B with auntie Nesta Gilliland, she loved it and it saved me a lot of extra driving.
This morning we had SJ in the arena. Worked on getting a better canter with more oomph (I felt all over the place but don't look it) did some skinnies, dog legs and combinations. Flixy was on fire 🔥
This afternoon we had XC and Flix was a little on edge at times when the others went to far away or she went away from them but jumping wise she was brilliant. We definitely jumped some of the biggest fences I've jumped since I was a teenager! I actually think I ride the bigger fences better sometimes....
She makes it feel effortless and I feel very safe on her which is wonderful.
All in all an absolutely brilliant weekend and I feel very prepared for the Foresterseat Cross Country competition on the 5th April.
Also so pleased that the work I've put into Flix's fitness has paid off. She was totally loving all the lessons and despite working hard and jumping a lot she still felt like she had more to give.
I think we are going to have a very very good year 🤩
