This Holiday Season, We’re Opening Our Hearts (and Our Barn Doors)
Many people don’t realize how many donkeys quietly suffer — abandoned, neglected, misunderstood, or simply forgotten. Here at Hoosier Donkey Rescue and Sanctuary, every donkey who arrives is greeted with compassion, a warm stall, and a promise:

As a small, volunteer-run nonprofit, we rely on our community to help us keep that promise. This year, our herd has grown, our vet bills have grown, and with winter hitting hard early, so have our feed and bedding needs.

Available at Gillespie Feeds in Hamilton, OH - they know our rescue and allow direct purchase for us to pickup.

Available at Tractor Supply in Batesville, IN - your purchase helps us care for our oldest resident, a sweet 39-year-old donkey who eats warm mashes 4x daily.
💛 Grass hay bales - we pay $7 bale.
Bedding & Supplies:
💛 Bulk Shavings - $20/scoop
Available at Wilhelm Lumber in Brookville, IN - we go through this quickly during winter.

Choose a donkey to partially or fully sponsor. Sponsors who live nearby will be invited for a special monthly “Sponsor Day” to brush, walk, and spend time with their special long-ear friend. For others, we will provide video updates so you can get to know the lucky one you are helping.
🚶♀️ Weekend Farm Tours - Beginning Late Spring 2026
We’ll offer guided walking tours where families can meet our donkeys, learn their stories, and experience the joy of spending time with these gentle, goofy, loving animals.
