Meet Jack and Daniel! 🐹

These 1-year and 5-month-old smooth coated boys came to Woodgreen in July 2025 and are now looking for their forever home together. 💕

Jack and Daniel are a bonded pair who are still finding their confidence. They love to snuggle under hay and hides, but Daniel has started to show his brave side, venturing out for tasty treats and helping Jack feel a little bolder each day. 🌿

These charming boys enjoy a mix of forage and fresh herbs like mint, basil, and coriander. With time, patience, and lots of love, they’ll blossom into wonderful companions. Jack and Daniel can live alongside dogs, cats, and other small pets (as long as they’re safely housed apart) and would be happy indoors or outside with plenty of grass time on sunny days. ☀️

Could you be the one to give these lovely piggies their forever home? 🥰 Head over to Woodgreen's website to find out more about adopting Jack and Daniel! 🌟

🐹🏠 Thinking about rehoming a guinea pig? 🤔💭

Transitioning them into their new home smoothly is key to their happiness! 😊✨

Here are 3 tips to help you out:

PREPARATION: Make sure their HQ is fully equipped with plenty of hiding spots and cosy bedding. 🛏️

CONSISTENCY: Stick to their current diet for now to avoid upsetting their tummies. 🍎

ROUTINE: Establish a healthy routine as they settle in, keeping the noise down and giving them space until they're comfortable. 📆🤫

Want to know how to encourage foraging behaviour?🍃

Creating the perfect eating environment for your guinea pig is an important part of helping them to forage and stay healthy.🐹

Here are some steps to follow:⬇️

💚Use a variety of feeding methods, such as scatter feeding, puzzle feeders, or hay feeders, to keep your guinea pig engaged and interested in their food.

💚Create a safe and comfortable eating area for your guinea pig. Make sure they have enough space to move around and access to fresh water at all times.

💚Choose the right diet for your guinea pig's needs. Provide a balanced diet that includes hay, fresh vegetables, and pellets.

💚Give your guinea pig plenty of opportunities to exercise and explore their environment. This can include providing them with toys, tunnels, and other enrichment that encourages them to move around and forage.

💚Monitor your guinea pig's behaviour and health regularly to ensure they are happy and healthy. If you notice any signs of illness or distress, contact your veterinary practice for advice and treatment.

The statistics speak for themselves, and they agree that our furry friends can understand us as much as we can understand them. 💌

Our recent survey spotlighted the very special relationship piggy owners have with their pets.

Relatable? We agree! 🥳

🐹✨ The 5 Pillars of Guinea Pig Enrichment 🐾

As loving guinea pig owners, it's essential to ensure our furry friends are happy and stimulated! Here’s how you can enrich their lives:

1️⃣ Social: Guinea pigs are herd animals and thrive on companionship. Consider housing them in bonded pairs or groups and facilitate supervised interactions to nurture their social needs.

2️⃣ Physical: Encourage movement to keep them healthy! Provide a spacious enclosure, safe floor time, and fun tunnels for them to run through.

3️⃣ Sensory: Stimulate their senses with a variety of textures, safe herbs, and by changing their cage layout regularly. This keeps their environment exciting!

4️⃣ Nutritional: Make mealtime an adventure! Hide food in hay, use puzzle feeders, or scatter forage to engage them during snack time.

5️⃣ Cognitive: Challenge their minds to prevent boredom! Use foraging toys, teach them simple tricks, or introduce new safe objects for exploration.

Let’s keep our guinea pigs happy and healthy! 💖

Know your 💩!

Normal guinea pig p**p is smooth and oval-shaped, with rounded ends. 🐹

It's usually a medium to dark brown colour with a slight shine. Healthy piggies will have p**ps that hold their shape and measure around 1-2 cm in size. Healthy poo should not have a bad smell! 🙅‍♀️

It is completely normal for guinea pigs to perform coprphagy and digest some of their poo. They will tuck underneath and eat this directly from source. 🏠

However, stress can significantly impact your guinea pig's digestion and p**p. 🥺 When guinea pigs are stressed—whether due to changes in their environment, loud noises, or even health issues—they may produce smaller, harder, or even very soft p**ps. Prolonged stress can lead to more serious health concerns. 🚨

So, if you notice any changes in your furry friend's p**p, it might be a sign of stress or an underlying health issue. Keep an eye out for any abnormalities and consult your vet if you're unsure. 👩‍⚕️ Remember, a happy tummy means a happy guinea pig! 😊

Transitioning your guinea pigs to a new diet? 🐹🥗

👀 Keep an eye on your guinea pig during their diet transition! 🍽️ Watch for any changes in behaviour or eating habits, as they could signal stress or discomfort. Signs to look out for include a decrease in appetite or lethargy.

If you notice anything off, don’t hesitate to consult your vet! 🐾 Your guinea pig’s health and happiness come first! 💖

Meet Raffaello, Ferrero and Enzo! 🐹

8-year old Raffaello and 4-year old Ferrero are a bonded pair who were rescued from unsuitable accommodation. They love exploring their surroundings and give an appreciative squeak at the crinkle of a veg packet. 5-month old Enzo is a little on the shy side but growing in confidence daily. He is inquisitive and full of curiosity, and is seeking a new home with a group of guineas to bond with. 🥰

Head over to RSPCA Animal Centre - Bryn-y-Maen for more information on how to adopt one of these gorgeous guineas.🌟
