Today was a big day for our boy Styx.
Without hesitation, we are so happy to share that Styx is officially on the mend. His cleft repair went perfectly, and we are unbelievably grateful to everyone who has donated, shared, supported, and believed in us these past few months.

Like many rescues, this time of year is extremely hard — especially heading into Christmas — but because of you, we are still able to do what we do best: save lives. ❤️

Please remember:
Most cleft-palate babies either pass silently before anyone notices… or they are euthanized because people believe they “can’t be fixed.”
I am here to tell you — loudly and proudly — that is not true.

With the right care team, the right knowledge, and the right commitment, these puppies can thrive. And if anyone ever tells you a cleft puppy shouldn’t be given a chance… you can give them my number. I will fight for them every single time.

Please don’t ever give up on puppies like Styx.
They deserve to live. They deserve love. They deserve a chance. 🩵🐾

Wrigley had his first vet visit the other day and they think he may be able to see a little. Which makes sense because he was maneuvers around the house like a pro. He always stops right before the ledge around our windows. He is so smart!! I will keep everyone updated as we learn more.

Buddy… my sweet boy,
We adore you more than words. You’re the tiniest little Australian Terrier — just over 1 lb — but somehow you have the biggest heart and the strongest spirit. You truly are our warrior.

Buddy, every single feeding you need to be held completely upright so your tiny body doesn’t struggle. You let us help you with so much trust. We’ve been doing X-rays, antibiotics, and vet visits trying to get to the bottom of your regurgitation, and you’ve handled every moment like the bravest little soul.

We also noticed something, Buddy… when you don’t play too rough with your sister, you do so much better. She’s triple your size, and you get so excited that your little body just can’t keep up — and then your food comes back up. You just want to be a puppy, and it breaks our hearts, but we’re going to figure this out for you. We promise for now you can play with Tiny Charles!

Thank you to Cheltenham Veterinary Centre for caring for you and taking these beautiful photos of our tiniest hero. 💛

Buddy, we’re doing everything we can… and if anyone reading this wants to help support your recent vet care — the X-rays, antibiotics, and multiple appointments — it would mean the world.

Zelda & Chica Both Have Costly Surgeries — And We’ve Had Zero Support So Far💔Gentle Reminder About How Rescue Works — And Ways You Can Help 💛🐾

I want to share this from a place of honesty and understanding.

We know times are tough.
Bills are high, groceries cost more, and everyone is feeling the pressure.
So when donations slow down, we completely understand why.

Last week we received $100 in e-transfers — and we are grateful for every bit of support.
But aside from that, no e-transfer donations have come in, even with the major vet bills we’ve taken on this week.

This isn’t said with frustration. It’s said because people often don’t realize how directly donations affect our ability to take in dogs — especially special-needs pups who have nowhere else to go.

If donating money isn’t possible right now, there are other meaningful ways to help:

💛 Skip a gift:
If you’re going to a birthday party, baby shower, or celebration, you can donate in someone’s honour instead of buying a gift.
We will happily create a custom certificate for you to give them.

💛 Bottle drives:
Doing a small bottle drive with your family, workplace, or school can make a huge difference.

💛 Mini fundraisers:
Bake sales, loose-change jars at work, classroom kindness projects, or even asking friends to donate $5 — it all adds up.

💛 Sharing our posts:
It costs nothing, but it helps more than people realize.

If you are able to donate:

✨ Tomorrow is a big day for our sweet Chica ✨

Chica, our little cleft palate pup who feels like she’s been with us forever, is finally heading in for her spay and a full dental check.

From the beginning, we’ve been giving her time to grow in hopes that her cleft — which is quite large — might close enough on its own to make surgery safer and more successful. Unfortunately, the gap has stayed the same. It’s still very wide, and it’s not something our regular vet feels comfortable repairing.

We did consult a dog dentist, and they explained that they could attempt a closure…
but it would take multiple surgeries, each attempt costing about $8,000, with no guarantee of success. The risk of failure — and of making things worse — was simply too high.

💛 Chica has been incredibly lucky.
She has only ever had one cleft palate infection, which is honestly a miracle given how large her cleft is. Her foster is extremely careful about keeping her safe and making sure she doesn’t pick up anything off the floor.

After a lot of thought, love, and veterinary guidance, we’ve decided not to put Chica through cleft repair surgery. She’s already been through so much as a tube-fed baby, and we want to protect her quality of life.

So tomorrow, our brave girl will:
• Get her spay
• Have her teeth checked to make sure no baby teeth are growing into each other
• And then… fingers crossed… adoption will be her next stop 🥹💕

💛 It’s a very expensive week for the rescue…

Chica goes in tomorrow alongside Zelda, who is having her spay and multiple dental extractions due to her cleft lip issues.

And today, our two northern pups both went in for their spay/neuter as well.

That’s FOUR surgeries in one week — something we absolutely want to give our dogs, but the vet bills are piling up fast.

If anyone is able to donate any amount, even the smallest bit helps more than you know. 💛

🐾 Wrigley’s First Vet Appointment! 🐾
Today was a big day for our sweet little Wrigley — his very first doctor’s appointment — and he was an absolute champ. 💛

The entire vet team fell in love with him the moment he walked in. Because he’s still so young, he can’t be fully assessed yet for blindness or deafness. They did a few preliminary tests, but he wasn’t a fan of things like the flashlight checks (totally fair for a tiny pup!). What we do know is:

✨ His eyes are noticeably small — the actual eyeballs — on both sides, with one eye slightly larger than the other.
✨ Despite this, his foster reports that he navigates the home incredibly well, even around ledges and corners.
✨ He rarely bumps into anything and is proving himself to be super smart and confident in new spaces.

We are so proud of how well he is doing. 🥹🐶

Today he also received his first set of vaccines, his dewormer, and flea & tick prevention. Fun fact we learned today from our vet: ticks can survive up to -2°C, so medication is still important even in cooler weather! ❄️🪲

Wrigley is blossoming into quite the little gentleman, and his foster family is absolutely smitten with him. We could not be happier with the progress he’s making or more grateful that he landed in such a loving, dedicated home.

We’ll continue to share updates as he grows, learns, and shows us more of who he is. 🧡
Thank you to everyone following along on Wrigley’s journey — your support means the world to him and to us.

Helping puppies with needs!

We are really lucky to have such an amazing connection with animals and for this type of work it is important. Our puppies are 100% treated as family and we find the BEST rehab and veterinary care for them while in our rescue. We are here to help not judge anyone we have the knowledge and expertise to work with various animals with needs. As of right now if you know anyone that needs care for their puppy with a need please do not hesitate to contact. It is better for your puppy to get the help they need at an early stage instead of waiting and risking infections and lack of nutrition. Clef Palate, Clef Lip, Swimmers Syndrome and the list goes on! WE are on a 24 hour feeding scheduled and are trained to tube feed, and provide the proper care for these tiny pups. Please consider us instead of euthanasia. These puppies have a right to live happy adjusted lives with loving families.
