We used the opportunity of a non - Mike Sierra Fishing Saturday today to bath Poppy. It was only her second Bark for Mark bath and she was still a bit uncertain about walking up into the tub - in fact I had to pick all 40kg of her up but once that was over she enjoyed her bath. Poppy is quite a unique mix of Husky X Ridgeback so she is an incredibly strong dog, very friendly and very adorable with amazing blue eyes. She allowed me to blow dry her coat after which she went for an active 5,31km walk around Glenwood.....and then a big sleep...zzzzz

It's Beeno treat time after their baths, for this Hillcrest family of 5. The 2 big dogs are Kimbah (Rottie) and Bella (black Lab), Willow is the Bull Terrier and the 2 little ones are Anna (Pug) and Cody (Terrier). It's only the second time I bathed the whole family and just as I started the garden services arrived, with all the noise of those trimmers and blowers, dust and staff. The dogs managed very well and I thingk the garden services staff were amazed watching the dogs enjoy their pamper session.

Maggie (blonde) and Chai of Durban North had their baths this morning. Chai enjoys the blow dry afterwards and Maggie prefers only the towel dry. Both dogs are from SPCA Amanzimtoti Pets For Adoption and now enjoy their best lives with total pampering by their human family. Here is a big shout out to all the rescue and adoption organisations in the Durban area.

The weather warmed up nicely today after it turned so cold yesterday whilst I was bathing dogs in Westville and Pinetown. Today was my day for Durban North and Umhlanga Rocks and it was a Labrador and Golden Retriever day! The first and third pics are of George (Golden) and Peppa (Lab) of Durban North, waiting for their Beeno treats and the second pic is of Chelsea of Umhlanga, posing for her pic and Beeno treat. Tomorrow is a full morning in the Highway area and it seems the warm weather will hold for us.

Can you believe that 2025 is halfway over and soon we will be in the mad rush to Christmas and then 2026. I thought it would be a good time to post 30 of my favorite photos that "capture the moment" of Bark for Mark dog wash days. All the dogs I bath and care for are my favorites- these are just favorite moments captured, that I find remind me of the special times with my dogs.

Loki & Finn making the most of the mild winter weather and enjoying their monthly baths this morning. Finn is one of my Bark for Mark ambassadors, featured in the promotional pic below. For new clients, it's warm water baths for all dogs during winter and on all cooler days. I use a high volume shower followed by a high velocity blower drier for all large, long haired / double coated dog breeds.

Bark for Mark bath day is not over until the Beeno biscuits have been served. Abby (Lab X) was a good girl, Jack was a good boy but Cali needs to do some work on her bath etiquette - shame, she stresses quite a bit in the bath. These pups were winners in my 5 year lucky draw promotion, so their mom has R400 saved in the budget to put towards her own spa day!

Today is a Bark for Mark Labrador special holiday, so I am not washing dogs. We are taking some oldies (older than us!) down to the Durban Ski Boat Club for brekkie and a nice catch up. Enjoy your Friday, the weekend and best wishes to all Comrades runners for an enjoyable and successful run.

Bark for Mark bath day is definitely NOT a highlight of her month, for Nebula of Westville. She reluctantly puts up with me on my visit and the first wag of her pug coil tail is when I drive out of the gate! Oh well, at least her mom is happy that she doesn't have a stinky, shedding dog in the house anymore, lols.

Zoe (first pic, in the front) and Thea, enjoying their after bath treats, which their owner serves them every bath day, when he brings out their towels (3rd pic). They are both double coated breeds and so they opt for the high volume, warm water shower, followed by the high velocity blower / drier. Of all the dogs that I bath on my routes, Zoe and Thea shed the most hair, without doubt. So far the neighbors havent complained about the clouds of hair blowing in the wind. They get brushed regularly with a deshedding brush but they still shed clouds of hair!

It was another long day for us today, from 8am - 3.30pm, non stop, clipping nails - 27 dogs in total.
Well done to Gugu for being so gentle with all the dogs.
