Always Always. My couch was bought for them. Not me!!
It's a simple truth: dogs don’t live forever. One day, the little habits that might annoy us - muddy paws, dog hair on the cushions, a bit of space taken on the sofa - will be the things we miss the most.
When we invite a dog into our lives, we aren’t just getting a pet. We’re gaining a loyal companion who asks for very little in return: food, care, and love. They give us so much more back - endless enthusiasm, comfort on tough days, and the kind of joy that makes a house feel alive.
But their time with us is short compared to ours. We get years, maybe a decade or so, to enjoy their company. They get their whole lives wrapped around us. It’s a reminder to soften the rules now and then.
Yes, sofas get dirty. Yes, fur clings. But what’s a little mess compared to the warmth of a dog curled up beside you, safe and happy? That moment of closeness is worth more than spotless cushions. One day, the sofa will be clean again - not because you won the battle over dog hair, but because the dog is no longer there.
So let them up. Let them sprawl, snore, and nuzzle into the pillows. Take the picture, laugh at the mess, and enjoy the moment. The cartoon’s message isn’t really about furniture at all - it’s about choosing love over rules, memories over neatness.
Because dogs don’t live forever. But the love they give us, and the memories we make when we let them closer, will stay long after the sofa fades.
