The key to the Nearside Forehand isn’t just the swing, it starts with your body position in the saddle.
To execute it effectively, you need to rotate your hips and shoulders, allowing yourself to fully twist on the horse. This creates the space and alignment needed for a clean hit of the ball.
From there, the direction of your shot is guided by the plane along which you’re swinging your stick. Focus on getting the line of your shoulders and your stick head pointing in the direction you want the ball to go. If that alignment is off, accuracy will always be compromised.
It’s a combination of rotation, balance and control that makes this shot consistent and effective in play.
