🐾 VOLUNTEERS WANTED – VETERINARIANS & VETERINARY NURSES 🇮🇩

Are you a veterinarian or veterinary nurse looking to make a real difference?

Join Toba Animal Friends Sumatra at our dogs and cats rescue shelter on the beautiful Samosir Island, Lake Toba, North Sumatra, Indonesia, and help care for rescued dogs and cats in need.

We provide: 🏠 Shared dormitory accommodation
🥗 Daily vegetarian or vegan breakfast & lunch
❤️ A meaningful volunteer experience
Volunteer commitment: • 5 hours per day
• 5 days per week
• Minimum stay: 2 weeks

Please note: ✈️ Volunteers are responsible for arranging their own visa and travel expenses. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship or visa assistance.

While I play, I’m also raising funds to buy 800 kg of rice for our shelter dogs. 🐾

We are in urge to buy rice for our dogs.
All prices for all things are up in Indonesia now.

Our target: Rp 9.6 million / USD 570

We have purchased 400 kg of rice for our rescued dogs, but we have not been able to pay for it yet.

Each 5 kg bag costs Rp 65,000 (approximately USD 4). That means we need 80 bags, with a total cost of Rp 5,200,000 (around USD 320).

If 80 kind people each sponsor just one 5 kg bag, we can pay off this rice debt and make sure our rescued dogs continue to receive their daily meals.

In June, we received less than Rp 10,000,000 (around USD 615) in donations, while our monthly shelter expenses are around Rp 21,000,000 (approximately USD 1.300)—not including veterinary clinic costs.

We are doing everything we can, but right now we truly need your help.

A Huge Thank You to Our Supporters! ❤️
We are incredibly grateful for the recent donations of much-needed medications for our rescued dogs and cats.

💚 Maria from Germany, who visited Lake Toba and is a veterinary nurse, kindly donated diarea meds, suture for cats, flea and deworming treatments.

💚 Mate's Gift in Australia generously provided funds for deworming medicine, flea treatment, liver supplements, and pain relief medication. Thank you Massy who brought these to Samosir.

💚 Desy Rachmasary from Jakarta donated deworming medicine to help keep our rescued animals healthy.

UPDATED ABOUT STRONG

Strong Update ❤️🐾
Strong is getting stronger every day.

After his deworming and flea treatment, he is making great progress. His p**p is normal, his skin is healing, and he is eating and drinking well.

The best part? He now barks whenever I stop petting him. It is a beautiful sign that he is learning to trust and enjoy love again.

Strong still needs your help to make a full recovery.

At Toba Animal Friends Sumatra, no dogs or cats sleep outside. Every animal stays safely inside the house in group enclosures, where they are protected, comfortable, and cared for.

Each morning at 6:00 a.m., they go outside to enjoy fresh air, exercise, and play. At 7:00 p.m., they all return inside for the night.

Our daily routine begins at 8:00 a.m. with cleaning the enclosures, preparing meals, walking the dogs, and spending quality time playing and socializing with the animals.

This routine helps keep them healthy, happy, and ready for their forever homes.

The story about Kaehl.

Kaehl was a hunted dogs from West Sumatra. The people there like to do gambling with dogs who trained to hunting wildboar.

But mostly after the dogs getting sick, old or never win. Owner just sold them to the dog meat trader.

We rescued Kaehl in 2023. At the dog meat restaurant to be eaten.

Kaehl vaccined. Chipped. Spayed.

He's living now with us in Samosir.
