PAWS

PAWS "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -- Margaret Mead

Vision:
PAWS seeks a time when there are no homeless companion animals in south central Pennsylvania. Strategies:
•Facilitating the spaying and neutering of owned and unowned animals.
•Rescuing, fostering, and finding permanent homes for stray, abused, abandoned and otherwise homeless animals.
•Collaboration with other humane organizations.
•Raising awareness of the plight of homeless animals a

nd ways in which individuals can reduce overpopulation. PAWS aspires to best practices established by well-respected organizations such as: Best Friends, Alley Cat Allies, Neighborhood Cats, Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project, and Best Friends' No More Homeless Pets movement, and understanding what the No Kill Movement is all about - and how it relates to PAWS which subscribes to the No Kill Philosophy.

Difficult post to share.
Our entire TNR and animal advocacy community lost a strong leader today. Christine dedicated her life to making animals lives better. PAWS remembers Christine as one of our integral volunteers who championed the first TNR clinics in our region. Back then TNR clinics were barely making headlines and certainly weren't common place. Christine changed that. She went on to found The Nobody's Cats Foundation and literally changed the landscape of TNR. Because of her, countless cats' lives have been made better, kittens weren't born into suffering, and the TNR movement skyrocketed in south central PA. Her legacy will shine brightly.
PAWS sends heartfelt condolences to Christine's family, friends, and the many TNR advocates who have known her through the years. Nobody's Cats staff and volunteers, we're holding you up in this extremely challenging time. Peace.

Today, we lost a legend. Her last wish was to make sure the mission of TNR and The Nobody's Cats Foundation continues. We will update this page as soon as we have more information about a service. Christine Arnold, 1956-2026

Look at this face.
Shortcake is looking for love with a couch and large screen TV. Her favorite things are lounging and binge watching a Netflix series in one sitting. She powers through with Temptation treats and short breaks for food. Stop by the PetSmart in Mechanicsburg to discuss your favorite shows.

Because you dont hear this enough. Thanks!!!

Happy New Year!

After slowing down for the holiday season, we're sliding back into the new year more determined than ever to be here for the cats that need us.

Rescue isnt easy and its our amazing community that makes it possible.

Volunteers. Foster homes. TNR advocates. Adopters. Veterinarians. Vet techs. Partner rescues and TNR orgs. Donors. Supporters.
Everyone who simply believes in what we do.

Our community is everything and we never take that for granted.

Thank you for walking beside us, for holding us up, and giving us grace during the times we struggle.

Here’s to another year of saving lives, together.
May 2026 be gentle and kind to you.

Wild and crazy New Year's Eve party at PAWS!
The crew is celebrating all that was accomplished in 2025. Looking forward to the renewed spirit the new year brings.
Don't worry we limited the catnip and treats accordingly. 😻
Be safe tonight.

Here we go again.
Caroline came to PAWS several weeks ago. She's been chilling out with us waiting till we had her status resolved since she was microchipped from a humane society down south. We noticed that she had an odd bump on her side that seemed to be getting more pronounced. Turns out she was shot. 😡
The pellet was lodged in her tissue and was being pushed out. Minor procedure to remove it and she'll be fine.
This is the 2nd cat within the past two months that was shot by a BB. The 4th cat we've had this year! They've been from different locations so this isn't an isolated incident.
Why is this a thing? Stop shooting cats. They are living creatures that feel pain. All they want is to survive.
You don't have to like cats but you absolutely dont have to hurt them. Don't be cruel.

Thanks for the tip!
An ear-tip signifies the cat has been spay/neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their outdoor home. Eartipping is done while the cat is anesthetized and is not painful for the cat.
An ear-tip is a badge of honor and means someone cared for the well-being of the often overlooked homeless cat.
Some lucky community cats that are suitable for living indoors are adopted into caring homes.
