Beatutiful Belle stolen when her home was broken into during the early hours of 25th Aug.

“They broke through an open window, took my mums camera, cash, bank cards and 5 month old Belle from her crate, in a towel they stole from the kitchen”.

Belle is a Yorkshire terrier, her face is starting to grey. Microchipped, Gardai investigating.

To add regarding the online selling platforms: we have come across many under the rescue tab, when they are NOT a rescue. You will see breeders/ sellers using many guises to trick the buyer. We did raise our concerns in our meetings with the online platforms, their response was, "we check their social media and if they have followers we allow an ad stating rescue". ANY DOUBT ALWAYS WALK AWAY

We would love to hear your views or experience on the following: Have you attended a puppy yoga class, are you a breeder or what are your views about this activity?

The Justice for Reggie team have previously heard of puppy Yoga classes although not a vast amount of knowledge, as our area is focused with online sales.
We have recently received concerns relating to this practice and decided to check them out as to the benefit for the puppies or if it is a money making activity.
We have completed research and also listened to the individuals who have contacted us.

We have spoken with a local authority asking the following questions:

●Does the local authority complete checks on the age of the puppies including vaccination records.
● If this is an ongoing business involving puppies 8-12 weeks old (stated on the websites) are the owners producing litters to meet the demands of the business as the advertisers detailed notice.
● As this happens in a commercial setting should they adhere to the same standards as other commercial enterprise's involving animals.
● Are pups from different breeds or different breeders.
●Have checks been completed relating to the stress of the puppies being handled at such a young age by strangers.
● The company have many dates and times advertised, is this considered healthy for the puppies with so many individuals mixing with the puppies.
● Do you agree it is advisable puppies should be kept indoors/ not socialise in public until 2nd vaccine, would this then be acceptable to have pups mixed in a public place prior to 2nd vaccine.
●Why do they state venue will be emailed 48 hours before date.

This month, we’re sharing the tragic story of Reggie — a young puppy who was sold illegally through an unregulated online selling site.

Reggie’s heartbreakingly short life led to the formation of our campaign group Justice for Reggie, which now fights to raise awareness about illegal puppy sales, push for tighter regulation of online pet selling sites, and prevent other animals from facing the same fate.

A raid has taken place at Companions 4 Life Cumbria “rescue” yesterday. Again we use the term “rescue” loosely. We have seen considerable concerns raised over the last number of years regarding this particular “rescue”.

While details of the exact amount of dogs removed have not been confirmed yet. Some state 150 dogs others believe approximately 65 dogs removed with 9 dogs pts due to being un-rehomable. Many are believed to be rescues from abroad some are owner surrenders and some are from other “rescues” who kennelled dogs onsite. The dogs are now in the care of the RSPCA while investigations are ongoing.

Might be a silly question but would you buy a puppy at a car boot sale?

Some people must be otherwise why would underage pups be taken there except to be sold. Thankfully Police intercepted and seized the 3 and a half week old pups. The five puppies who were seized went to the care of Dogs Trust Harefield.

Good Morning Britain featured Five-time Paralympic Champion and BAFTA winning documentary maker Ellie Simmonds, live from Dogs Trust Harefield rehoming centre.

Do you know Dogs Trust is also chair of PAAG. In addition to its public advice, PAAG also works alongside classified websites such as Gumtree, Pets4Homes and Freeads etc.. to remove illegal adverts. The PAAG group aims to improve the standards of pet adverts and ensure they are legal and ethical.

The message from the Dogs Trust centre manager is don’t be caught by the internet.

RIP PD Bert 🌈🐾🐾

While responding to an emergency incident, a Dog Support Unit vehicle was involved in a collision on Stockton Street, Hartlepool, at around 9pm on Thursday 17th July. The incident involved a BMW and the police vehicle, which was carrying an officer and two police dogs.

Both dogs were taken to a veterinary clinic for assessment. Whilst one dog was found to be uninjured, very sadly, due to the severity of his injuries, PD Bert was humanely put to sleep. The officer sustained minor injuries.

A 33-year-old man was arrested following the incident and has been charged with drink driving but enquiries are ongoing as we continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the collision. The man has since been bailed to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on 1st August 2025.

PD Bert was a five-year-old Springer Spaniel who had been with Cleveland Police for three and half years using his skills to search for drugs, cash and fi****ms. During his service, he located £250,000 in criminal money in one search alone and was also deployed to London to assist with funeral of the late HM Queen Elizabeth.

A Golden Retriever petting experience in Somerset will not reopen after RSPCA North Somerset Branch inspectors found dogs in poor condition and some fighting and killing each other.

Nicolas St James, 62, was banned from keeping dogs for 10 years after some of the animals died in his care while he ran the Dunster attraction.

He was handed an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for one year, at North Somerset Magistrates' Court in Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday, after pleading guilty to animal welfare charges.

⚖️ 10-year ban for Kilmarnock puppy dealer

Julie Taylor admitted to illegally selling puppies and failing to meet their basic welfare needs.

Taylor sold puppies without a necessary pet-selling licence and failed to take reasonable steps to ensure the welfare of 16 puppies of varying breeds.

The animals were kept in p**t conditions, separated from their mothers too early, and were not provided appropriate veterinary care or vaccinations.

As a result, Taylor received a:
- 10-year ban on keeping animals
- 200-hour community payback order
- Five-month restriction of the liberty order
- Order to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work
