Today we pause.
To honor the brave.
To remember the fallen.
And to give thanks for the freedom they fought to protect.

We will never forget 🇺🇸

As a trainer there’s a lot of pressure to create perfect behaviors

A feeling that no matter the improvement of a behavior it could always be better.

Even though a dog has accomplished so many goals, is it enough?

There’s always room for improvement and growth, but how much is needed to satisfy clients?

I want the pups to be the best they can be, but realistically I usually work within a 2 week timeframe, and that creates certain limitations on what I can accomplish.

There’s a certain freedom and joy I feel when working with my own dogs. Knowing that behaviors and skills can be works in progress without judgement. Knowing there’s no deadline or even expected outcome.

Maya has quite a few skills that are not “finished” or “proofed” and that’s ok. Because the joy for both of us is found in the process of learning not in the performance of a finished behavior (even though it is very satisfying).

So here’s a video of Maya during a session where she did some things perfectly and others not so perfectly and that’s totally fine with me because that is the learning process.

We didn’t go to be perfect we went to have fun.

I never want to lose the slight pressure of performance because that’s what pushes me to provide the best training I can, but I do think there is beauty in the imperfect sessions because learning isn’t linear and it definitely isn’t perfect.

Our Foundation

It all started with the love of a dog. A bond which could not be broken between a boy and his loyal companion. What began as a childhood affection, grew into an adult obsession. Steve realized his passion and potential when he purchased his first German Shepherd and began looking for an activity to do together to increase the bond and to give the dog a purpose. Through his 20+ years of learning and growing, he has helped countless owners decrease their frustration and increase a stronger bond with their four legged family member. What began as an affection, has become a passion in helping others with his God-given talents. Let us show you how to achieve a better relationship with your dog.
