Dogs should be on a lead on coast paths and near cliff edges.
Don’t risk it.
Not only are you risking your dogs life, but you’re risking the life of the emergency services workers.
You can have a dog with a very good recall, but no dogs recall is 100%
Just don’t risk it.
📟 CALLOUT #27
Dog over Cliff, Dartmouth🚨
29/07/25 - 1542HRS
On Tuesday afternoon Kingsbridge Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked by Falmouth Coastguard to reports of a dog over a cliff on the South West coastal path close to Compass Cove. The team was tasked to provide a technical rescue response if a rope rescue was required. Also tasked was Dartmouth Coastguard Rescue Team and Dart RNLI Lifeboat.
As the team arrived on scene they prepared all of the necessary rope rescue equipment, while Dart Lifeboat was able to locate the dog and sent crew members in to rescue it. With the dog now safely in the hands of Lifeboat crew they were able to hand them over to Coastguard Rescue Officers and be reunited with the family.
Dogs are part of the family for many, so we want to remind everyone to keep dogs on leads when on the coastal path or close to cliffs. If your dog is to get stuck or get into distress, do not put yourself in danger by attempting to climb cliffs or enter the water. Those on scene did the right thing by calling 999 and asking for the coastgaurd. We please ask that any comments made are respectful.
☎️ Remember in a coastal emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
