Centurion Snake Catchers Catching of snakes from homes and business and relocating them away from harm

Some food for thought,

Are Snakes Dangerous and Out to Kill People?
This is one of the most common questions we get and the simple answer is no, snakes are not out to kill people. In fact, most snakes want absolutely nothing to do with us.
Snakes are shy by nature. They spend their days hiding, hunting small prey like rats, frogs, lizards, and birds. Humans are far too big to be considered food. If a snake encounters a person, its first instinct is usually to escape, not attack.
Why do bites happen then? Most snakebites occur when people accidentally step on, disturb, or try to kill a snake. A bite is the snake’s last line of defense, not an act of aggression.
The real danger isn’t snakes, it’s fear and misunderstanding. Many people kill snakes on sight, but these reptiles play a vital role in controlling rodent populations, which helps protect crops and reduces the spread of diseases.
Snakes are not villains lurking in the grass to attack us. They are important, misunderstood creatures that keep our ecosystems balanced. Respecting them, giving them space, and learning how to live alongside them is the best way forward

Snake season is still fairly quiet with an odd brown house snake here and there. We have had 2 call outs for rinkhals but they disappeared by the time we got there.
This morning I received a call. A snake was seen at this company often and it disappears as there are trucks in and out. they send me a very blurry photo.
My 1st thought was rinkhals but rinkhals does not have a shiny skin so it threw me off a bit.
The snake has then disappeared and they asked me if I wont come out and look and just educate the people.
When I got there, they showed me where the snake had gone in and also a video but the guy doing the video was shaking to badly for me to see properly what snake it is, my thought still on rinkhals.
I showed the guy a picture of a rinkals and he said no it is not that one. He said is big snake but small head. then I thought ok maybe brown house snake, because they can get fairly big.
The place where this snake lives is basically underneath a manhole. there is small gap where the snake goes in and out and they said it battles a bit to go back in - healthy snake -
When they opened the manhole I for safety put on my eye protection because my gut still said Rinkhals
as they opened up the manhole cover I just caught sight of the snake, it moved into a pipe opening and I grabbed it by the tail, holding on because I new that if I let go I will loose it.
Snakes are quite strong, i used my hook to try and get it out and eventually it turned its head and came back out
Immediately when it came out it made a hood and spat, stunning beautiful healthy Rinkhals.

It really saddens me that it has to be removed as it has apparently been living there for some time and was seen more than once.
It kept their rat population under control
Rinkhals are shy and will flee rather than bite and will make a hood to warn you off.
They are highly venomous and give birth to life young.
I will release it at a safe place, bit far from where it was caught but release sights are very limited for rinkhals.

With snake season upon us, snakes are on the move both day and night, I have been asked about snake repellent or jayes fluid.

Unfortunately, this is a myth - there is no chemical or repellent that keeps snakes away!

The best way to reduce the chances of snakes around your home is to remove what attracts them: keep grass short and trim shrubs, clear away woodpiles, scrap, bricks and rubbish, seal holes and gaps around the house, store pet food securely, keep chicken coops rodent-proof, and manage compost heaps so they don’t attract rodents or frogs.

Jeyes Fluid is a harsh chemical that does NOT repel snakes and can actually kill them as well as harm pets, wildlife and the environment. If you encounter a snake, stay calm, keep children and pets away, and call a local, experienced snake catcher for safe removal, by focusing on cleaning up and habitat management rather than chemicals, you can truly help keep your home safer this season.

I have no dislike towards these products, however they are used incorrectly when thrown on snakes or animals.

A call came through for a snake in a yard
I saw that it was a rinkhals.
I went through to the people's house
When I got there the Rinkhals was lying under a bush, trying to hide from people. The lady said she saw it coming from the neighbour's yard and must have seen her and went into hiding
It was a very easy catch

One caught I saw that it had this terrible wound that has somehow healed. I am not sure how this rinkhals survived it. I think someone tried to kill it.
Rinkhals will never attack unless it has to defend it self. It will make a hood and spit but it will not bite.
If your dogs for eg attack it, it will defend itself by biting.
Rinkhals are highly venomous and they spit.

I have been to this company so many times and in my previous posts I have mentioned that every time I am on my way there, I pray that the Rinkhals disappear before I get there.
They dont really bother anyone, there are lots of tunnels and next to the company is huge open veld where they hunt as well.
So this morning call came in. Rinkhals out. I drove there, on my way I was phoned that the rinkhals went back inside.
I turned around. Just before I got home, got another call, same company saying there is another rinkhals.
As I got to the company the rinkhals went into a gap, 2nd pic, when we took cover off, the rinkhals was lying there.
it did try and escape but unfortunately it was not fast enough and I had to catch it.
I see it has some old scares. I will monitor it for a day and release it.

as I was leaving, the security guard told me the other rinkhals it out.
Unfortunately I could not grap this one from the bottom, too high, so i went round the top again.
It is very high, so now I have to lean over to catch this one and unfortunately it went back into its hole.

Rinkhals are highly venomous, they do spit and they give birth to live young/
Rinkhals are hesitant to bite but will bite if it does not have any other choice.
